Q: Can the 1.2mm stones be applied with super glue instead of LED?

No. Super glue ends up costing the stones with a milky coating. It looks horrible. You have to use a gel, gel polish or gel glue.

Q: Do you need to apply nail art glue to secure these on the nails?

I would use nail gem "glue" (which is usually thick gel), polygel, rubber base coat gel or rubber top coat gel or thick structure gel. Then cure. I suggest staying away from super-glue. Hope this helps.

Q: Are these little flatback stones?

if you’re ordering any of the 1.2, 1.7, or 2.4 AB mini ones, i belive theyre all flatback! i have the tiny 1.2 and theyre flatback! and the 2 bigger sizers are the same, just different size

Q: How would you apply these if you don’t have a gel nail system?

That would be the only way I can think of applying them to buy a gel glue that can’t be cured under the UV light
