PureCare FRíO Cooling 5-Sided Mattress Protector, Lightweight Performance Fabric, Queen, White (PCFRIO3050)

Got this for our new mattress. We like it except for one thing: We're both finding ourselves warmer than usual while sleeping. (Without the protector my husband is always cold at night and I'm always hot. His opinion is what makes me think this warms us. I've had to run a fan on me even into the cool nights of fall with this.) We think the heat retention will be a bonus in winter b/c our bedroom tends to be cold. On the plus side, it does not make any sound while we sleep, and it fits tightly--no sliding. We love that. This is the same protector they were selling at the mattress store for another $30-$40. Give this a try if you need a protector. It washes up well and easily. Be sure to follow care instructions re: the dryer. It needs to be fluffed throughout the cycle to keep drying. I use dryer balls and they weren't sufficient to prevent hot spots. I double-checked as it was drying and found exceedingly hot spots. Maybe I just need a few bigger dryer balls. Going to try that. Will update if it helps.

My whole family is loving PureCar mattress cover. We ordered the one that is supposed to keep you cool as you are sleeping and so far it has stood up what was advertised. We choose the cooling matress cover for the reason that we live in a tri story home in which two of the bedrooms are on the third floor and everryone know heat rises, so I wanted an added thing that would help us stay cool besides the AC. As I have said we are happy with our purchase and love the PureCar Mattress cover. I plan to buy more in the near future for when we change our sheets. This way we dont have to wait for it in the laundry. We can just fold it for the next time we change our sheets. In other words, I highly recommend this item.

This product couldn't be purchased locally in CalKing size, so I ordered via Amazon. It seems nicely constructed, and should offer good protection and cooling qualities. It installed easily, and leaves sufficient room for an extra 3-inch topper, which will be reinstalled soon on our new mattress.

Doesn't make the bed any cooler - material too slippery!

This is pure silk. It is not a puff me up protector but rather a very densely packed super smooth silky waterproof protector. I have been through a lot of protectors over the years. I took care of my mother during her last 15 years and she had incontinence. So rather than having a daily chore of laundering her sheets, I found that a silky smooth mattress protector placed on the bottom with regular sheets and blankets on the top was the ideal combination. This PureCare for sure will be ideal for that kind of situation, or if you have young one that is a bed wetter.However it is made from Polyester. It's almost like a tightly woven plastic but a silky smooth variety. So you can wipe it clean very easily instead of the daily laundering. The direction call for hot water, and hot drying in the dryer in order to maximize the cleaning.The other types that do a wonderful job and add some cottony softness are the ones made from cotton. The problem with many of those is that they do have a small amount of plush cotton on the top to warm up the initial impact of lying down on them. For doing the quick clean up for a bed wetter they are not. The top cotton layer doesn't wipe like this Pure Care does. So daily laundering is a possibility with the cotton models. (Although I must admit there are some pretty amazing cotton toppers that they somehow managed to make very smooth)The other good thing about this PureCare is that it is designed for mattresses 14 to 18 inches thick. Nothing is worse than an undersized cover that won't wrap around the underside of a mattress at least well enough to create a grip and not ride up. That goes for any kind of mattress cover you buy. So if you have a 12 or 14" mattress with a couple inch topper having one that accommodates 18 inches is a huge plus.Overall I am impressed with the silky smoothness of this PureCare. It's like the finest Egyptian cotton sheets that you dream of laying on. Of course for normal use a fitted sheet goes on top of this. Just wanted you to know that there are no crinkle’s with this; it’s silky smooth ultra-quiet.Yes the bottom is open as is the case with many protectors, but some do have a completely enclosed foundation with a zipper so nothing can get through them. A bed bug is not going to get through this one either from the other side. Not that they can't set up residence underneath. I had a bed bug problem and the only thing I found that worked was duct tape. Put it on the floor along the wall under the bed, and even encircle yourself in it around the outside border on top of your bed. Within a couple of nights you will have captured all of them.So this Pure Care for its intended usage is a premium cover. Hey with the polyester you won't have to worry about ironing it; right out of the dryer, and right onto the bed.

The PureCare’s FRíO mattress protector is a strange product to say the least. I’m not sure what to make of it. The material is very flexible. It feels somewhat like silk, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t. It doesn’t have any strange odors like other covers I’ve purchased. It doesn’t make noise like some of the cheaper plastic covers I’ve had. Compared to the sheets on the bed, it does feel slightly cooler to the touch. That is the strange part. I have no idea how this works. It is washable in FULL hot water to help with sanitization.So, what are the negative points? Well, this cover is pretty expensive compared to others. They say it is “treated” with antimicrobial silver chloride. I guess my concern; does it wear out over time? If I wash it, does it leave this protection behind and will it hurt other items in my wash? I guess I might have to update this review if I find the answer to these questions. That might take a while.I expect the expense maybe okay for some who want the advantages this product claim. It fits the mattress nicely and it does feel a little cooler to the touch. It will be interesting to see how well it holds up with time. I am giving it a 4 star mainly due to the cost. I might change this later if I find it holds up as well as they claim.

The PureCare FRiO mattress protector lives up to its claims. Coming with a lifetime warranty, the queen sized pad that I received helps keep me cool while sleeping. I was so pleased that it felt breathable and cool despite having the obvious protection that a mattress pad is supposed to provide. In addition to being water and spill proof, this pad also serves as a barrier to allergens, dust mites, mold and mildew that might be present, particularly in older mattresses. It will also help keep new mattresses clean and help them breathe better so they won't develop these problems in the first place.
