Meriville Set of 2 Decorative Bird Window Curtain Holdbacks for Draperies, Renaissance Gold

I bought this rod for my 74” living room window, and they are lovely. I had waited for the Renaissance gold to come back into stock and it was worth it; additionally, the seller seems to have taken some customer advice, because the finials came packed in styrofoam and neither were broken. The way that the rods are secured into place made it a little difficult to put the fixtures into the wall, but they’re plenty sturdy. The only flaws I could really warn of are that: firstly, the instructions in the box note that I was supposed to have three rods so that it could expand the full 84”. Without it, it can not, and I happen to be so lucky as to not actually need the third rod, but it was a closer call than I would’ve liked since I hang heavy curtains. Secondly, the finials screw into the ends of the rods in a funny way, such that if you were to tighten them both entirely, they wouldn’t be even with each other. I got around this by mostly tightening the one on the right, so that I was secure enough to balance upright. It’s good enough for me, but as the finials are fragile, a larger margin of error would have caused it to swing around of its own weight and hit the wall, risking damage to both it and my wall.Overall, these have been sturdy, cute, and after three months have caused me no issue of import. If you like them, the risk seems manageable.

The tail on both birds were broken and the birds sit incorrectly on the tie back so when installed, would sit sideways and not on top as shown on the site. Terrible quality control and product.

I love these little birds! I installed these just below the ceiling and it creates the illusion of a taller ceiling than I really have. I made an L shaped cardboard template out of the box they came in. I used this to measure the placement of the brackets so that all four of my windows match and I didn’t have to fiddle with lots of measuring for each one. It took me a couple of hours to install three short rods and one long one with curtains and tie backs. I used a power drill/ screwdriver, a hand screwdriver, ladder and a hammer for the mollies. I’m a 56 year old lady with arthritis, who is somewhat handy but not super experienced at this stuff. So if you are at all comfortable with diy don’t hesitate.Sorry about that sideways photos. I am writing on my phone and don’t have an easy way to rotate them.

These are wonderful rods, very sturdy. The birds are made of resin. One broke upon arrival, but I glued it and then used a black permanent marker to hide the seam. I wish the birds were metal,

I would have given it 5 stars but, like many others, the tail was broken off of one of the birds. Therefore, it was a clean break so once I glue it back on it shouldn't be noticeable. I agree with the packaging. It is not well packed at all. I hope they take more pride in thier product in the future. Charge a couple bucks more and pack those birds in Styrofoam. It would be worth it and your reviews would be all 5 stars and very happy customers! Just something to consider if you even read these that is. Overall, I am happy with the product and was happy it was only one bird with a clean break.

Not pewter at all. Bird is silver and the metal is black. Would not have purchased if I had known it was black as this is to go with pewter curtain rings and rod. Birds were not aligned correctly and had to carefully force them to sit upright by over-tightening the screw. Birds are ceramic so be careful you don't drop them as I found out the hard way when trying to retread one on the base and broke the tip of a wing. Too late to wait for a better tieback as we need to hang the curtains and not worth the hassle to return.

I read the reviews and decided to risk having to glue the tail back on the bird as many others had written about. Up that high, nobody would probably see the glue job anyway! Well... The piece of the tail that is broken off isn't even in the box! It's like it was broken before they packed it and didn't even bother to throw the broken piece in. I'll be returning this one.
