Security Analysis: The Classic 1934 Edition: The Penhallow Dynasty

Do not buy this edition. This is not even written by Ben Graham. Although Roger Murray was torch bearer of value investing in Columbia business school in 1970 and 1980 and held the fort when efficient market camp was most vocal else where....he is no Ben Graham when it comes to writing skills. On top of it he has altered the original text almost completely! He should have changed the name to something else.Buy instead latest 6th edition. That is exact 1940 edition with this alteration...1. Removed few chapters from 1940 edition.2. Between every chapter they have added a new chapter by today's topmost value investor. The topics are different. These chapters are rated very high and gold standard.The entire 1940 edition is given in CD attached with the book....if you wish to read deleted chapters in the printed text.I have both the editions and 6th edition will be read again and again. Not 5th one.

A good solid book about investing in stocks using fundamental analysis. Lots of formulas in this book. A good book for someone interested in doing there own research on which stocks to buy.

Es handelt sich bei Security Analysis um einen Klassiker. Selbst Warren Buffet empfiehlt das Buch. Er ist sogar bei den Autoren in die Vorlesungen auf der Columbia University gewesen. Hat er doch nur dort studiert eben weil die beiden Autoren dort Uni-Professoren waren.Das Buch behandelt, im Original publiziert, die heute noch wichtigsten fundamentalen Aspekte zur Analyse von Anleihen als auch Aktien, Vorzugsaktien genauso wie "common stocks." Wandelanleihen werden ebenso behandelt wie "mortgage bonds" und "debentures". Ein großer Teil des Buches widmet sich der Analyse der Einnahmen als auch der Bilanz.Es liest sich wie ein wissenschaftliches Buch, bei dem die Eingangsproblematik und die aktuelle (auf 1934 bezogen) Betrachtungs- und Vorgehensweise herangezogen wird um dann die Problemstellung zu erötern bevor eine Lösung dargeboten wird. Mit dieser Lösung kann heute noch, wie von Warren Buffet und Konsorten noch immer bewiesen wird, eine Wertpapieranalyse auf höchstem Niveau erfolgen um größtmögliche Sicherheit bei der Wertpapierauswahl zu gewährleisten und gleichzeitig, dank Warren Buffet's Geheimnis wie man ein Billionär wird, "compounding", auf Dauer große Gewinne erzielen, vorausgesetzt man investiert nicht gerade in einer Phase extremer Übertreibung zu Höchstkursen hin.Nun wünsche ich Euch viel Spaß beim lesen und viel Erfolg beim investieren.Alexander H. This book is a masterpiece. First in its category and still valid and necessary to read for everyone interested in investing in stocks and bonds. Such a valuable piece of art and fundamentals we cannot move and improve without the knowledge that provides this book. Definitely recommend to every person who wants to learn how to do a quantitative analysis. A must read.
