This lady is a shining example of what I strongly believe to be the only hope Homo Sapiens has of surviving as a species. Women that have been priveleged to hold positions of President or Prime Minister, have, to a woman, been highly respected and successful. It is invariably the men who object, because they have this problem with their own self importance, or their perception of their own importance. We are all equal in this world and is it about time some of these men got to grip with reality. I was well aware of this lady simply because my late wife had the chance to meet here before she took that ill-fated trip home to be incarcerated. Burma is a Buddhist country and their leaders have been anything but Buddhist in their rule. Perfection, in her words, is about purity in thought, word and deed. I agree absolutely and practice that in my own life - at 74. The quicker a lot more people started thinking and acting in these terms, the better our society would be.

An interesting insight to this amazing lady, and the country. Gives historical information and through the conversations enables you to form an opinion on how the people of the country have lived.

Excellent and moving book. I have since purchased it for 2 friends who also enjoyed it. I learnt much more about the Burma situation.

It reveals the amazing spirit of Aung San Suu Kyi. It conveys her strong commitment to the welfare of Burmese people by achieving at democracy. I want see her wish realized. The interviewer, Alan Clements asks straight-forward questions, and Aung San suu Kyi answers to them conscientiously and insightfully. I felt this interview is an art by the two brilliant minds.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! Had to read it for one of my classes, but I finished it in a day because it was so fascinating. Aung San Suu Kyi is an incredible woman with great insight into what makes us all human.
