Replaced bulb in ceiling fan light

While I hate that these are relatively expensive bulbs, I buy them from Amazon.com because that are competitively priced and always available. Finding them at Home Depot, etc. is not always successful and when we need one, we need one and I don't want to drive around to multiple stores looking. Also, for whatever reason, I've had inconsistent success with these Feit bulbs. Sometime their longevity is good and some of the time (maybe 25% of the time or less) they don't seem to last but about 3 months. Not sure why, but the ones sold at the box stores have about the same reliability issues. I've noticed that if I leave the fixture's small glass bulb cover off, the bulbs last longer. Probably due to heat build up I'm guessing. My fixture has a separate piece of 2" glass that covers only the bulb and is unrelated to the decorative glass associated with the fixture.

This is the third time I bought bulbs, each time I have not regretted it. I struggled trying to find these bulbs all over town then found these and bought a bunch of extra ones, they were cheaper and the correct size, all the other ones I kept finding around town were the tall instead of the mini. They arrived quickly in secure packaging and seem to last longer than anything I have bought for the lights in the house.

in Sept. 2011, i bought three of these via Amazon, two to fill an immediate need and another to have on hand; today the need to replace one arose; the last of the three was still sealed in its card, but when placed into the fixture it didn't even flicker -- completely dead; a careful look with a loupe shows no broken filament, and yet my ohmmeter shows infinite resistance; my guess is the connection within the bulb base is defective, which should have been caught at the factory with simple testing (a broken filament would be more excusable, might have occurred with rough handling)of course the return window is long past with Amazon, and FEIT prints zero warranty info on the card; i will be trying another brand, with this and other bulbs i buy(typographic note: Amazon replaces the Unicode em-dash and apostrophe i typed with two hyphens and a prime)

This bulb fit like a glove and check out my attached photo - you can't tell it apart from the original bulbs (this is the one on the right). With 3 bulbs on our fixture this is just the right amount of light for our bathroom. I shopped around and you can't beat the price either!

I paid on the high end of the price range for these bulbs as I expected the quality would be better than others that buyers have complained about. Sadly, this does not appear to be the case. The bonding material which bonds the bulb to the base is smeared all over the socket which has made it difficult to install the bulb. I would not buy this brand again.

These are terrific replacement bulbs. Mine are used in a bathroom. The light they give off is "warm" and not harsh at all.I will buy these again when the need arises.Update (4/2009): The price on this has increased from around $6 to a whopping $28! Yikes!
