Great product
I bought this old fashioned cake mascara as I was fed up with the clumpy false lash effect mascaras that are on the market today. It took a little bit of practice to get the hang of using it, you really only need a small drop of water on it. It colours my lashes, and leaves them separated, with absolutely no clumps, wich was what I wanted. I found the brush really easy to use. I love it will definitely buy it again.

Mascara block
Disappointed with this product lovely big compact like container but the mascara block is about the size of a ton pence piece lovely big brush though

Holy Grail
Twenty-five years ago an aunt left this cake mascara behind when she died, and her compact was probably twenty years old. She was very glamorous, so I knew it had to be a product worth trying. I washed the brush, and I've been using it since; sadly lost it in a recent move. Reordered. The new product is little more cherry-licorice scented, and with a fluffier, improved brush. Packaging is nearly the same, classic. It's the best mascara for every day wear as long as you have the time to really look in a mirror (the compact has a generous one inside the lid) and apply more than one coat. Love it. Also, in twenty-five years, I never got close to using it up, it lasts forever. Also, because it dries, it's very sanitary.

Throw away the brush and use a spoolie
At first tried using it with the brush it came with and thought it was awful then tried a cheap beauticians disposable spoolie and wow, so much better. Best results were 1 coat with a saturated spoolie, a dusting of translucent powder then a second coat. Once dried my lashes were curled, think and black to rival any high street mascara with good staying power and no clumping. Like a very good lash lift and tint. The product works great but the brush provided is awful.

Don’t waste your money
This was just a very hard block of I don’t know what. Even after soaking virtually no colour could be removed. Shameful rip off of £15+.

block mascara
terrible

Old-fashioned block mascara - more flexibility and controllability than wand mascara.
Have used these block or cake mascaras for many years. The advantage is that you can easily control how much mascara you want to use and add layers, as necessary for different looks. Help avoid clumping together of lashes, especially if lashes are sparse. The disadvantage is that it takes a bit of time to familiarise yourself with how to use and apply it, but the end result is worth it. Also kinder to lashes. Thoroughly reccommend.

Used product
The product did not have a safety seal and the mascara cake was clearly scratched. Will be returning it.
