Very clever design. It is a white metal box divided into 3 chambers (wiring/ballast chamber and 2 light chambers). Mounts to standard round junction box in wall or ceiling. I purchased this to replace a decorative wall light that got smashed. This clever light is solid metal and virtually impossible to break. Contents as shown in first photo. Wire connectors NOT included. Great value for the money.Cosmetic: When off, it looks like a plain metal white box which isn't exactly the most elegant light in the world. However, when on, you don't see the box you see a butterfly shaped light which also illuminates the wall. So, it's very strangely pleasing. Note that since it illuminates the wall, any minor imperfections in the wall are going to be visible.Light level/color: About medium. Just bright enough to read a book by if you have a chair under it, but not to illuminate a large room. So it's great for a hallway OR as an auxiliary light if you were going to, say, dim the lights and watch a movie. Light color is cool (instead of warm). I normally prefer warm but since it's a wall light I think the cool makes sense as it will pick up the color of the wall more accurately.Modification: As shown in the photos, it was pretty easy to modify to accept a light cord instead of having an electrician install a new junction box in the wall. The metal is tough, yet still fairly easy to drill. I used a collar from the previous broken light for the cord entry. CAUTION: Keep your family safe - if deviating from the manufacturer's instructions, have your work inspected by a qualified electrician before powering it on. You want to make sure, for example, that wiring gauge is sufficient, that polarity/grounding is correct, and that the cord will not be frayed, any of which could result in dangerous electric shock.

I was not sure these would work for the stairs going to the basement but they are small and mighty! I like the simple look of them, and I also installed these on my own. I was brave after doing the exterior lights, but due to the height and stairs, it was a bit more of a challenge, but I pretty much saved us a few hundred dollars. What else can I switch out?

One of the two lights strobes. It started doing it within a week of installation only when you turned it on. Now it does it constantly (6 weeks later) and is virtually useless. Needs to be replaced. No clear way to reach the seller to complain as return period is over.

It’s very small and complicated to install .You can buy it ,if your a technology guru.

2nd update 6-6-2023I ended up buying another one and now use these as sconces in my bedroom. They're both super bright and are just right for reading at night. The first original one is still going strong and the second one I bought is the same style, just bought as a single. I still highly recommend these ~*update*After nearly 2 years of being used as the main light in my living room, the little sconce has conked out... he only flickers and gets to half brightness. I've researched and the bulb can't be replaced. I've moved the light in my office to the living room, as I need it there more and the office gets summer sun, for now. I'm sad it can't be fixed, I really like these lights. I'm moving in 2 months so I'll hold off buying new ones until I see what the new house needs. But I'd definitely buy these again if needed. 6-2022I have a dark area in my rental house, I didn't want anything that has to be permanently installed. I got a pair of these even though I only needed one, the price was that good and it was the right fit... one of the reviews said it was too dim... holy cow, I have no idea what they are talking about, it's super bright. To get a decent picture, I had to dim it down. Otherwise it was just a bright blur lol. Super easy to install, just a matter of hanging it up. I'm going to use the second in the room I'm now teleworking from because I can use the extra light. This might be my favorite purchase this year~ you know, when you're looking for something but can't quite put your finger on it and end up being super happy? Yup, that's this little light! First off, I wanted simple, discreet (small) sconces to replace outdated/garish ones in our renovated condo. Check! I was delighted to see that they were exactly as described, and my guys installed them without incident. The problem was that of the three sets (six sconces), one sconce had arrived broken in transit. Bummer. HOWEVER, when I notified Amazon of the situation--which undoubtedly informed the seller--I IMMEDIATELY received replacements!! I am impressed, and beyond grateful! Thank you!! I'd order again in a nanosecond.

What do I love about these - very good price, simple clean look, and not too bright. If you are looking for very bright sconce light, this isn't for you. It's more for background mood/decor lighting. It is the look I was going for without a hit to the wallet. What I disliked was the construction / engineering, which made these difficult to install. If you are not very handy, I would pass on them. The install bracket has to line up perfectly straight on the wall, which is impossible on most light boxes. You'll have to jerry rig something to work around it. Next, the wiring is cheap and not properly color coded. Instead of black and white wires, there are blue and brown wires. The instructions are very poor. I was able to figure it out, but it wasn't easy.

Well I got this sometime in October and it looked really nice on my wall. I got a lot of compliments from guests; unfortunately, it only lasts 3 months and one of them went out I couldn't fix it I opened it up and everything. It just stopped working one day, so with that being said... I would not recommend. nope!
