The surface is a little bit rough.

Not sturdy enough for kitchen use
This cutting board is not meant for anything but cutting pickles or the like. Very thin and flimsy. Sharp knives cut into it. Maybe best as a platter to serve cheese and crackers.

The cutting boards give me splinters which makes me worried about the cutting board splinters getting into my food

Bad quality
One of the boards broke apart in three pieces within just one use, there was cutting lines all over them after one use, small pieces of the board break off causing splinters. Really poor quality. They LOOK beautiful but you can’t actually use them.
