My wife loves these so much. They are not hand painted, but printed. Even so, the material they are made out of, and the design pattern is worth the price. Beautiful investment.

These are bizarre cups and plates, which would make a perfect gift for somebody who collects wacky expensive things. When you first see them, it takes several hours to wrap your mind around them and start comprehending them as real objects and not a Photoshop trick. The idea behind this project is combining classical European and Asian porcelain, by putting together a half of each without any regard to style, shape, and the artwork. In this particular case, one half of the cup is taller and curvier than the other. The outcome is completely odd and I marvel at what was going through the head of the designer who came up with this idea. Some plates, for instance, combine egregiously mismatched images, with rear ends of the horses on one half and a partial Chinese drawing of a dog on the other. Another one of my favorites is a partial Mideast castle on one half and two Chinese fish with bulging out eyes on the other. These are perfectly tasteless and should've never been created. Yet, they exist and are worth a lot of money. My friends are definitely getting these for their wedding anniversaries whether they like it or not.
