THOMAS & FRIENDS Wooden Railway, Figure 8 Set Expansion Pack

I needed some switching pieces to give my son some train options that would fit on his train table. Unfortunately, this was not quite enough for me to switch enough for two overpasses, only one. I will be ordering another one to make both overpasses work for him. I am using it to expand two sets that I have connected together--one Chuggington and one Thomas. It works fine with both.One of the great things about this that I did not notice when I ordered is that one side is train tracks and the other side is flat with a road stripe on it. I will use some for my son's wooden cars that came with another track set. The only downfall is that you cannot flip them over to alternate male-female when building things. However, the gender bender pieces that came with this set were sufficient for that.

This is a necessary expansion set if you want to play trains along with your (now likely train-obsessed, if you're looking at this item) child. That figure 8 set will only keep your attention for so long, but this expansion set might mean that it's your kid--not you!--who is getting bored playing engineer. The track switchers and straight long pieces make it easy to configure lots of different train set ups. This set works particularly well with some of the bigger add-ons (Knapford Station and Tidmouth Sheds).If you collect multiple pieces from different train sets, know that these tracks are a little difficult to attach to Ikea train pieces.

I bought this in order to expand our current wooden Thomas figure 8 track. It serves its purpose and my boy (age 3) enjoys the extended track we can now create. Well made and have no issues. He's playing much more often with the train tracks now. Would recommend if you're looking to expand your wooden track collection.

It's a good combination of pieces but quality is not equal to other Thomas track pieces I have.These pieces feel lighter and the edges are sharper. With the other sets I have, the train tracks can be flipped over to reveal a road with a dashed line down the center. These are plain on the back.

Purchased this set to help extend the track system for my grandson. My son asked for this set in particular because of the track pieces in it. He needed them to enlarge his sons set. The package was securely packed and came through with no damage and ahead of the projected date. Made me very happy and my little grandson too.

I was disappointed to find that this track MUST be used with other Figure-8 sets. Fisher Price Thomas and Friends makes numerous train sets - many of which do not work together. Buyers must be very aware of what they are buying and whether the set will connect with other sets.

Sadly this product is damaged. The box was intact and looked new but two of the connector pieces had wood sliver chunks out of it. Enough so if affects the motion of the trains.

These provide some important expansions to create a wider variety of tracks than the standard sets. They are a bit pricey, but they open up some new possibilities, so it's worth it to us and our toddler boys.Pretty straightforward other than that. High quality. You get what you see. Either you want it or you don't. :)
