What we've been waiting for
The Imperial Class Star Destroyer, one of if not the most iconic ship from the Star Wars movies and the game piece that every player of Star Wars Armada has been waiting for, and I think it is worth the wait.I've exposed the incredible craftsmanship of Fantasy Flight Games in reviews of their other products, and already reviewers of this product have touched on it, so I will leave it be. Just a note that this item follows the quality of their others. As a unit for game play the Imperial Star Destroyer is a beast. It has more hull armor and firepower then any other unit I have seen (I have not seen the Mon Calamari Cruiser yet) while including a respectable top speed of 3 and with 3 command points, 4 starfighter points, and 4 engineering points. But such a powerful ship comes with a cost, namely that the Star Destroyer will take 110-120 of your fleet point depending on whether you play the Mk-I or Mk-II version. Meaning that no matter what this one ship will take up 1/3rd of your fleet, a third that could otherwise be filled up by a Victory Star Destroyer and several TIE Fighters. So choose your fleet composition wisely. And aside from getting a powerful game piece, the various upgrade/support cards are among the most impressive that I have seen. Mainly because 6 of the cards you get allow you to change your command tokens before revealing them, vastly improving the versatility of ships like the Star Destroyers. Then you get the usual collection of cards that increase damage or work to disable enemy defenses. This is the first of the Wave 2 units I have seen and so far I am impressed and overall I can think of many reasons why fans of the game would want this model, both for gameplay value and display purposes.P.S. I do have one tiny annoyance and that is how it does not sit perfectly straight and parallel to the ground. I don't know if it is an issue with the stand or if it was intended that way, but mine is slightly tilted.

Fantastic detail!
I don't play the Armada game so can't comment on gameplay. I bought this solely for display purposes. This is THE best Star Destroyer model I've seen. Ridges, gunports and antenna arrays are highly detailed and look fantastic. The ship is mostly grey with some darker shades throughout to add texture. The only non-greyscale or black coloring is on the engine ports which have a nicely shaded afterburner blue on the inside. It's a good effect that doesn't look silly like on some other models I've seen. The ship measures 8" from front to back. My two areas of mild disappointment were on the underside: 1) The capture bay doesn't seem as deep as it appeared in the movies and its interior detail isn't as accurate as the rest of the model. 2) They chose to place the display stand connector right on the giant belly dome and it affects the appearance of the dome. These are minor gripes though. Overall this is a fantastic piece.I got mine on sale from an Amazon vendor for $34. If you're considering this for display purposes I think you'll be satisfied at the suggested retail, but if you can get it cheaper like I did buy it immediately.

The grand fleet of the Empire arrives!
Need a better tank ship than those Victory-class Star Destroyers? Here she is! Still prone to rear attacks it comes with a great set up upgrades that allow you to play either more cautiously or throw caution to the wind with Vader as your commander. The model is simply stellar detail we've come to expect from FFG but boy is it large. Storage issues may arise with this ship measuring 8 inches in length. A touch larger than we're used to. Still a must buy for Imperial players/collectors. Includes the following cards for Star Wars Armada:Commanders:•Darth VaderDefensive Retrofits:•Redundant ShieldsCannons Ion Cannons:•NK-7 Ion CannonsRetrofit Offensive Retrofits:•Boosted Comms•Phylon Q7 Tractor BeamsOfficer:•Captain Needa•Engineering Captain•Support Officer•Tactical Expert•Wing CommanderTitle:•Avenger•Devastator•RelentlessTurbolasers:•Heavy Turbolaser Turrets•Slaved TurretsTeam Weapons Teams:•Ruthless Strategists

It looks amazing. When I got it out of the box ...
The Imperial Class Star Destroyer is a massive upgrade for any Imperial fleet. With this expansion, the Empire gains a craft the size of a medium to large slice of pizza with a ridiculous amount of firepower and toughness. It is both faster and nimbler than the Victory Class Star Destroyer that came before it, making the other vessel all around inferior to the ISD except in one aspect: the point cost.Having said that, you need this. At least one. Maybe two. It looks amazing. When I got it out of the box I was just flying it around humming the Imperial March. More than any other ship in Armada, this one just screams Star Wars.

Does a good job at intimidating your opponent
Much bigger figurine than I thought it would be. Does a good job at intimidating your opponent.

Outstanding model
Seconding the review by Hobgoblin about this being a fantastic desktop model. For a few years now, I've been looking for a good Star Destroyer replica and have been stymied by awkwardly- or poorly-detailed die cast miniatures or bendy, rubbery things. Having been thrilled with Fantasy Flight's X-wing, A-wing and (especially) Millennium Falcon miniatures, I was ecstatic months ago to learn of this item's can't-get-here-soon-enough arrival. The wait was totally worth it; this is an exemplary desktop display piece. I appreciate the stand gives it some extra elevation over my other display ships, rightly so. My only quibble is that out of the box, both of the tiny horizontal bars atop the "conning tower" were up-tilted a bit; I considered returning the model, but some gentle prodding righted the skew and it seems to have stuck.Etching, painting, hull details/"greebles" are all wonderful. Anyone looking for a little Imperial desktop flair should look no further than this item. (If you're more Rebel-leaning, their Falcon model is also exquisite.)
