Gerber quality shines
Quality knife for every day carry. Unique cleaver blade design is both visually appealing and functional. Very sharp out of the box. Smooth index finger flip is effortless to open and liner lock securely locks blade for use.

A perfect pocketknife?
Everything about this knife is perfect AFTER I had to return the first one because of liner lock issue. This new one is behaving much better, but it is still less than easy to close the knife. Literally everything else is amazing. Even the return of the first knife was so easy even I could do it. One VITAL change needs to be made to these knives, my friends: The material from which the spring lock is made is WAY WAY too soft for this purpose. Soft material riding against HARDENED tool steel in compressive function cannot be what you were aiming for. You know your metal behavior, guys. Come on, it's riding along a MARVELOUS ball bearing action because you understand what happens over time to metals (particularly steel) fatiguing over time. So you didn't really expect us to believe you "overlooked" the fact that upon every open/close cycle, the retaining liner lock is VERY visibly chewed away by that (no joke) wonderful, marvel of a blade? I machine respectable slivers of metal from the locking arm just opening it and closing it to show off to friends. Please PLEASE find a way to replace the material on that bearing surface. A miniscule hardened steel insert brazed into the end would cure it lickity split. You'd be better off replacing (with the exact same design) that half of the handle with steel that has been selectively hardened (spot, induction hardening at the faying/bearing tip could be faster in production and less costly to implement than another entire process and tooling for a brazed insert. Scrap the backers youve got right now and call this run an "oversight". Even a high durometer plastic boot baked on the end would make me happy honestly, but I believe the addition of a single heat/quench induction station in-line would be the medicine for this otherwise masterful, possibly legendary knife you've got here Or just through-heat some carburized low carbon steel blanks punched out using your current cutting method for that .015" or so skin for the D2 steel to slide over nicely. I really want this knife to be perfect, and you have that well within your abilities. Don't you want something to overtake the "leek"? This SHOULD be that knife. Till then, I'll be leaving metal shavings all over the place getting the most out of the two (of the three I've owned) me and my nephew have. (I gave him one for his birthday. He LOVES it as well) Please please please, address this materials issue!! :-) Thank you!

Could B Better
Ok I took a chance on this one and came up a little short but not a complete let down. I like the size and design a lot and the fact that it's a flipper. The materials could certainly be improved upon even if it raised the cost it would be worth it for me. It opens smoothly with no sticking or hesitation. Nice and sharp out of the package. The micarta is a little skimpy for my taste and better metal would be welcomed. Other than that I like the knife overall. I would prefer this over the flatiron because of the size and it fits my hand perfectly.

Excellent
Great knife. Slim, easy to flip open. I bought as a gift and now I think I will have to buy another for myself.

At 54, this is one of the best knives I've had.
Gerber is quality. The cleaver blade is a tool as well as a RAZOR SHARP pocket clip knife. Quick blade mechanism is fast and easy. Highly recommended

Not the worst not the best either
The frame lock is hard to use definitely not one hand operation. Wasn't sharp to start with but did sharpen to a razors edge quickly hoping once broken in will preform at the same level as other gerber knives I've owned.

One of my favorite knives
The ball bearing pivot is a wonderful experience which drove me to make the original purchase from Academy, but the model from there had a softer blade material. The D2 steel in this blade has been tried and holding true as my edc knife. Need to keep the bearing lightly oiled about 1-2 months if carrying constantly. The micarta handle is holding up fine, though noticably takes in moisture, but has not cracked or distorted yet.

Disappointing
This seemed like a nice knife and probably could be if it were made a little better. The flipper action is VERY stiff and I could not get it to successfully deploy even once. The frame lock is also very stiff and required using two hands. By comparison, I recently purchased a CJRB Crag. This knife works flawlessly and cost less. I suppose I could work on the action and get it to function a little better but I shouldn't have to. I immediately returned it.

Frustrado!
