AideTek DM4070 LCR Meter multimeter Tester capacitance Inductance Resistance self-Discharge

Always wanted an inductance meter and this on works great. added feature of resistance and capacitance. Very handy slots to plug in parts so no messing with test leads. With my other meters I always have the wrong leads, clips when I need probes and probes when I want gaters. Fast and appears accurate, at least for my home use. I have a metrology background so that is always a concern for me.

I ordered one of these and it did not come with the carrying case that is shown in the pictures. I sent it back and ordered another one. The second one did not come with a carrying case either. It was hastily stuffed in a ziploc bag and looked like someone else had bought and returned it.

I have been needing LCR meters for my electrical hobbies and have been using the very cheap Chinese LCR kits that consist of an assembled meter with or without a case only for them to only last 6-18 months before dying. I wanted something that will last me but didn't need a laboratory quality piece of equipment. This was a nice middle ground that so-far has been reliable and easy to use.

Overall very pleased. I just removed it from the shipping envelope and was pleased with what I saw. Nice 'rubber' case protector and a nice zip-up black carrying case. The two test leads are flexible. The red colored one that I have is slightly defective in that it will not seat fully. This will not affect the operation and I suspect is easily fixable when I get motivated. The display is huge which is very nice. Zeros as it should. I think the bail/stand on the back is wee bit lightweight and don't think it will take too much abuse. The only other thing was that my meter was shipped turned on so the battery was kaput. I think it's worth the money and should fit the role of a hobbyists LCR meter.

For resistance, it's working properly. While making tests for inductance, it's totally wrong at all levels, looks like its receiving interference from sources around, so I took it to a clean space and it seems to improve, but still wrong, doubles the results, not sure what the hell is going on with that, Also a "1." seems to stay for no reason, looks like that is also making the LCR to fail the output result. So regarding the capacitance, at pf seems to be working, but after that, the measures looks odd, again is doubling the results, precision is failing, this is totally wrong. This meter sure is broken from fabric.I have a made the measures with a bunch of pieces I have, I would put the pictures, but seems to be worthless effort, I used all of them and it's wrong. Also compared with a multimeter I have and it's giving the right outputs.

Well constructed, easy to use. A must-have for the experimenter especially for building switch mode power supplies or in my case, welding machines. Seems to be quite accurate at screening unknown inductors for various applications. Capacitive mode had pin-point accuracy on all ranges.

Works as advertised, the values are correct as per new high line caps to test with. It is cheaply made confirming what I read before I bought it. If I was using this everyday day in and day out I would be unhappy. I use it a couple times a week and it does an excellent job so far.
