No they are not. Synthetic cholecalciferol can only be made from sheep's wool. The packaging has been changed to reflect that these are not vegan.

You would normally divide the "units" figure by about 50 to arrive at the figure for micrograms. Thus 4000 units is about 80 micrograms of vitamin D per tablet. This is only a rough estimate. Micrograms are abbreviated to µg, not mg. I read that the normal daily dose for adults is about 800 units. The safe upper limit is about 10,000 units per day. These tablets thus seem to be for a high but safe dose.
