The Lost Tribes #1

Our 8-year-old son loved being read "The Lost tribes by C. Taylor-Buttler". Every night we would run to bed so that we would have more time to read. Five friends, each with their own skills, come together to solve a mystery that involves their parents. it is cleverly written and has lots of codes to decipher and history of old civilizations as well as geography presented in a way of clues that kids get really excited about. And the ending is completely unexpected. We have ordered the next book (The Lost Tribes, safe Harbor) and cannot wait to start reading it!

MIT graduate Christine Taylor-Butler has woven a remarkable fantasy world complete with impossible odds and smart protagonists who refuse to believe in the impossible. I could go on and on about rich settings and unpredictable plot twists, well rounded characters and mind boggling adventure and it would all be true. But I love the way Ms. Taylor-Butler also took her fictional quest beyond the written page to engage smart readers with online puzzles and real world hints. The book is not just fiction. It is interactive fiction brilliantly crafted. If you're looking for a fresh new series by a gifted author, look no further. Christine Taylor-Butler has crafted a powerful world just waiting to be discovered!

This book is FANTASTIC! Hands down - a must read. It's a fresh, bold and vivid adventure that weaves African culture, mythology and fantasy with powerful story and unforgettable characters. The writing is effortless and exciting. I'm a teacher and my students couldn't put it down! So, I recommended it to my social circle and to my book club. Everyone who has read The Lost Tribes has swallowed it up! I'sclass Storytelling at it's best. Can't wait for the next installment!

My grandson liked the book.

I bought this book to gift a 14 year old neighbor for her birthday. She is a voracious reader. I was quite surprised when she thanked me 3 days later and stated that she had completed it. She said the story captured her from the beginning. She found the characters to be totalling engaging and she couldn't put the book down. The plots and twists kept her going and the ending surprised her. She said she would totally recommend this to others young readers.

This is definitely aimed at the younger crowd, so although it was well-written, and tightly-plotted, it wasn't my cup of tea. Still, I would recommend it for any youngster who has an interest in puzzles, games, and aliens.

This is a gripping adventure with a multicultural cast of smart kids who are real and fun and believable. The fantasy element is so well-grounded you can't help believing that, too. Taylor-Butler is in the class of Orson Scott Card (ENDER'S GAME) and Andy Weir (THE MARTIAN). If you don't think you like sci-fi or fantasy, give this a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised -- and counting down the days until Book 2.

This action packed adventure will catch the attention of young readers, especially those who enjoy video games. Ben and his friends are all engaging characters and the mystery behind the sudden occurrence of strange happenings is developed well. I particularly enjoyed the thought-provoking quotes preceding each chapter.
