This is the best book out there for grieving parents.
I first acquired this book several years ago not long after my son died. It was such a comfort to me that I carried it with me in my purse for over a year. It was like a security blanket to me - always there to comfort me when I needed it. Since then, I have kept a supply of this book on hand to give to those who need it, with the hope that it will in some small way assuage their grief. It is beautifully written by a bereaved mother who is also an author and wife of a Methodist minister. There are scriptural references throughout the book, but not overdone - just enough to underscore the point she is making. The chapters are short and don't bog down - a big help to newly bereaved parents whose attention span and concentration is almost nonexistent. Almost every emotion and reaction possible following the death of a child is addressed. I highly recommend this book to anyone whose child has died - no matter what age, cause of death, or how long ago.

For Grieving Parents
I have read this little book many times during my own grieving over the loss of our youngest son. I found it comforting and insightful. It gave me hope during the most heart wrenching time of my life. We need to express and release our grief, understand our reactions, forgive, accept, and learn the tools that allow us to pick up the pieces. For those who look to their faith for comfort, this little book offers much needed insight by expanding on the words of scripture and offering relevant meaning in the vernacular. There are times when the soul needs lifting up, and this little book accomplishes that. I highly recommend it alone or as the companion to, "Healing After Loss" by the same author. These books were life savers for me and my husband.

I Will Not Leave You Desolate
In 1987 our son was killed by a drunk driver. A friend gave us this book and as far as I am concerned it was the only book that gave me comfort. The author has buried a 16 year old daughter and shares her story and insights without preaching or judgement. I have bought many copies and have shared them with other parents through the years. I highly recommend this book to any parents who are grieving.

A Book that Helps You See You are not alone
I have bought copies of this book to give to friends who have lost a child because this was so helpful when I lost my daughter. It explains without preaching the process of grief...it allows you to be a part of a community who knows your pain without telling you how you should feel. It gives additional reading as well. It is short and doesn't waste your time when you don't want to read ...but the pain is so great you need to know what to do.
