Worth it! No scooping, no dust
It's an expensive start up but it's worth it. It's incredibly easy setup and change. Our 16 yr old cat took to it within a day. We get about 2 weeks out of the crystals box, not the month advertised but, again, worth it (she tends to pee a lot in the same spot so that's a big factor in the 2 wks i think) We bought the 6 pack of boxes which worked out to about $15 a box. Looking at the difference with litter the smell is almost non existent (get close enough ans you may get a whiff), there is no dust, she tracks a couple little crystals but nothing like littee, and IT CLEANS ITSELF! No scooping is worth the cost. Plus, the amount of litter we were buying, scooping, changing, smelling etc ends up being more than the crystals. Our cat is asthmatic so even the low dust arm and hammer was still dusty and even buying in bulk at box stores I really do think it's not that much more for the crystals (after the startup of course). I read lots of reviews and think a lot depends on your cat, their habits, etc. But overall despite the very few shortcomings (2 wks vs a month, it has a decent size footprint) it is worth not scooping and smelling cat litter.

Reasonably good unit, don't bother with the wi-fi option, some design issues remain.
Last purchased Jan 25, 2026 Size: Standard | Style: Smart (Wi-Fi) Uncovered These are pretty good units but don't bother for the additional $40 for the Wifi-smart connectivity. The circuitry chosen by the engineering team is flimsy and doesn't work well; e.g. mine was burnt out upon receipt -- the rest of the unit functions fine, though. I wish I had spent the additional $40 on some extra litter, it seems to be a worthless addition (tracking your pet's bathroom activity? remote cleaning initiation?, meh). The only other issue is that the unit is about 1/2 inch too long (or, perhaps the cabinet 1/2 inch too short?) for the Wayfair-brand housing that's supposed to cover up and hide this thing and make it look like a piece of furniture, may have been a communication issues between design and engineering teams between the two companies? Seems like a more quality, Based company could come up with a unit that includes exterior aesthetic appeal and perhaps a UV-C ozone tube light to nix smells and microbial growth, in a safe, cat-excluding fashion. Future revision design issue that remain: - cat tracking crystals about the house after use, occlusion of the electronic eye system results in the need of human manual intervention, odor and smell can get bad, a more old school # of uses annunciation system would be better, like beeping after 25 days or 25 days worth of raking cycles; this could be a 10 cent piezo beeper, not a Wifi-communication system.

2 Cats and Thumbs Up. Better than Litter Robot
I've been using this auto litter box for 2 weeks with 2 cats, and so far I am quite pleased. I have used the very expensive Litter Robot for about 5 years. I bought the newer Litter Robot Air 3 last year and it was nothing but a headache with its spinning ball constantly getting jammed. At $499, I was pretty unhappy that it was causing hassles. Worse yet, because of the jamming, 1 cat began pooping on the floor because the ball was upturned and she couldn't enter. I began looking for a non-spinning auto litter box for my 2 female cats quickly. 2 weeks in and the cats (ages 5 and 6) both adapted to the crystal litter fairly quickly with no real issue. 1 cat was a little unhappy with the feeling of the crystals underfoot, but I provided no other alternative so she had no choice than to use it. I did sprinkle a few tablespons of the old litter on top of the crystals. What I read in the reviews and agree with is letting the poop/pee sit for 25 mins before raking. My box sits in the garage which the cats access via a cat door. Amazingly the crystals make the urine dry up quickly when left the recommended 25 mins before raking. The poop also dessicates to dry. No smell after 2 weeks with 2 cats AT ALL. The Litter Robot stunk to holy hell inside the ball with a heavy ammonia smell. I did not buy the lid cover for this ScoopFree unit for that very reason. I believe my cats prefer an open litter box. I am hopeful I will get several years of usage from this ScoopFree litter box. And its 2/3 cheaper than the Litter Robot! As per the directions, it appears I will be on target for the throw away tray to last 25 days as stated. My cats are not heavy with urination. i have not felt the need to buy one of the Forever Trays. IF i can get close to 1 month on a toss away tray, I prefer this convenience. Amazon offers a 3-pack for under $50, so i am ok with that. Easier to deal with than lugging clump litter. So far so good.

The power plug is in the worst possible spot, I don’t even know how to describe how ridiculous it is if you need to unplug, because not only is it on the bottom and well in from the edge, but imagine you have a tray down there, disposable or permanent, and you need to unplug or plug in, you have a huge mess on your hands. Also, what is with disposable trays? What a rip off. I bought the permanent tray for another $90 extra. And when I bought his it was $259, now it is $359! The rake gets caked with crap easily so you need to clean it often and you need the right type of litter, not cheap brand and if it clumps too much, the wet stuff gets stuck and the rake can’t move. They say you can go like 25 days or something without changing the litter, with one cat which is untrue. I have timed it out with two cats, and also tested 10 different litters, I charted it all for length of time litter lasted, first indication of smell, texture and rake state at cleaning time, and found the best mix is 3 parts litter crystals that this company sells, the non perfume one, with 2 parts Platinum Arm and Hammer Cat Litter. Doesn’t get sticky as much, masks odour as best possible, and I also use fresh step blue door crystals. And the longest I could go between cleanings with 2 average size cats was 5.5 days… so 25 days my arse. Overall, this device is not bad, but the fact that they are now charging $100 more for it than when I bought it, and then they still charge you another $100 for a permanent bottom tray, makes this device not worth the money. Who wants a cat litter machine that doesn’t come with a tray anyway? How ludicrous. People are fools to get sucked into that, and it is capitalistic greed at its worst. What’s next? Recycled cat litter marketed as premium because it’s being reused? how about litter bags with no bottom, and you pay extra to be able to close them? Or a subscription to disposable litter scoops? For the money they are currently charging, I would invest in one of the circular litter cleaners which are now less expensive than this traditional rake kind and keeps the odor in. Pet Safe is clearly ripping people off when the cost was $259 at the end of the pandemic and now $359 2 years later. It’s not inflation, it’s greed, and I don’t think the price is worth the convenience, it isn’t THAT good. Since this is not new technology, if the price had gone down since I bought it, to under $200, I would say it might be worth a try. But anything over $200, you can find something better elsewhere, this company has set itself up to rip you off. Disposable trays and 25 days between cleanings… give me a break. They don’t even have an odor cartridge to mask the smell, they have a little container which does collect some of it but it is full after 3-4 days so I don’t know where they come up with their numbers. Lastly, I just recycled this device by giving it to someone, because it wasn’t addressing odor issues. It sounds like it does because of the little trap door at the end but it doesn’t do it, and it is also quite loud when the door is opening, as it scrapes up the plastic. The door often gets stuck opening or closing and there is a little plastic attachment that they put on with magnets that constantly comes off and you have to touch it with your fingers to put it back on every time you change the litter, it has to go one or it doesn’t keep the smell in at all, but it also rusts and is the first point of contact with cat poo so it is always dirty. Magnets were a stupid idea, so don’t get this if you don’t like touching something soiled in cat poo every time you change the litter. You have to use your hands to line up the magnets which means you have to touch it, and it is a big pain in the arse. For $359, they should come change it for you every time you need to change the litter.

Likes: super easy to use, way less odour from cats (2), feel at ease leaving the cats for a night or 2 knowing the litter is cleaned often. So far the cats have had zero accidents where as before they had minor ones. Cleaning is Fairly quiet and doesn’t scare the cats Delivery for new refills took longer than expected but I was able to scoop out poop to throw away for longer use of box. Dislikes: the price for the refills…. Not sure if it’s really sustainable financially. Box of 3 for $65.. vs my $12.99 litter bag that would last a couple months. Not eco friendly with lots of waste from refills…. The reusable tray is $70… seriously?! I tried other trays but they don’t fit. The pebbles/crystals end up all over and I step on them- gross and annoying. Same as regular litter but larger pieces. Advertised as cleaner but I somewhat disagree. At first the cats did not use it dispute me trying everything- mixing their old litter in the new box and new crystals in old litter, litters side by side. Finally removed the old box and they were fine using the new one. Size- it’s large. I cannot find a litter enclosure large enough to fit it so it’s hidden. My last box fit into a bench designed for litter boxes. Overall, would recommend for people who seriously hate cleaning the litter box or go away often. It has been very helpful this summer.

What a difference from other Pooper Scoopers. I live in a converted RV Tiny home, and I wasn’t even expecting this box would be very quiet, which has been a welcome surprise. Since the box is in a locker space that has a catdoor to my bathroom on the inside, and a catdoor to the Catio on the outside, I need to move the Catio to access the box, so the electronically monitored version, eliminates the guessing. Also, this litter doesn’t require frequent topping up, every 2nd day with 2 cats with clumping litter, it only requires the changing of the litter. Since I have a bad back, the lightness and the less moving of the Catio to access the box, eliminates injuring my back. I purchased the matching tray, reducing the cost, and so much easier to clean compared to other automatics and other litters. The cost of the litter however is more expensive, but in my case, cheaper than a chiropractor, and far less and lighter waste to the dump, as there is no garbage service where I live.

My cat took to this right away. The product is good and it’s convenient. The smart app is so basic it’s not worth the extra cost. It’s automatic, why do you need an app to trigger the rake? You don’t. 3 stars because of the unnecessary extra cost and not even close to enough litter to fill the box high enough for the rake to reach.

not sure if I will keep this litter as I am unable to use the PetSafe application to follow my cat utilisation of the litter even when I am not home. I bought this litter as it had the remote utilisation if it doesn't t work I will return it and get the regular one or another one with the access to the application as this one cost me $ 287,50 and a regular one is $213. being quite used to having wi fi accessories I have never had this issue with an application. very disappointed as I have spent more than 1 hours with PetSafe support and they were unable to help me out. Anyone know or had the same issue pls let me know as to how you fixed it. awaiting for any help before I do sent it back
