Sweet Obsession

Everyone needs their story told except.....
Brooke and Mason. You know there’s a character in each story or series that you think they really don’t need a book written about them that would be Brooke and Mason. I read the reviews and thought wow it can’t possibly be that bad. From some readers saying she’s a “whore “ and “ he should just leave her”, but what I can’t seem to figure out is how anyone could like Brooke or Mason. Their story is so convoluted and expeditious that I honestly can’t tell you what these two characters could possibly offer the readers. Mason at first showed promise but then I realize what reason does he have to want more with Brooke. It’s never mentioned like oh my lord the most beautiful woman I have ever seen or I love everything about her and I think she’s the one. No he decides out of nowhere and off the bat that he wants more when all she wanted was sex one and done. Then there’s Brooke who does nothing but work, hang out with friends, curse like a sailor, cry like a baby, have sex, think about sex, and act immaturely. Usually with characters such herself there’s a reason behind her inability to get close and just have a good time. There’s no apparent reason at all. She doesn’t give a clear understanding of who she is even when Mason clears the debris. Then don’t get me started on the sex. Every other page was some form of sex, thinking of sex, oral, petting and anything in between. I thought this book would make me laugh but it was just bad. A NA romance/ Contemporary romance not really more like erotic romance. No prude here but when an author uses sex scenes to replace substance in a book why write the book in the first place. It was like reading about a cheesy porno. Good thing it was free.

Big let down!!!!
If I could give this book 1/2 a star I would. The 1/2 star would be for the picture on the cover of the book. I was extremely disappointed after I purchased this book only to find out it was about the most unlikeable character Brooke in the previous books. This is more of a stand alone book that shouldn't be considered a part of this series. I was looking forward to reading more about Dylan & Reese after their wedding and new life, but instead the author decided to put Brooke at the forefront. I would have rather read an entire book about Joey & Billy, Juls & Ian, or even her delivery van Sam. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this trainwreck. How do you take the worst, most unbearably, unlikeable character and try to put her on display, as if I'd want to read about her sexcapades or her pathetic existence? Not interested at all. I tried to skim through this book but gave up on it. I wish I could get my $4.99 back.. this book wasn't worth two pennies to rub together.

A Must Read!
First off, this is the first book I have read by J. Daniels. I follow on many social media accounts, and all of the buzz surrounding this book got me to buy it. Yes, these do tie into other books she has written, but as someone who never read those (yet), it doesn't really matter. We see glimpses of other characters, but there is nothing in the book that would give the impression you need to read the others to understand this one.Initially, Brooke really was annoying me. I,somewhat, admired her confidence, but at the same time, I felt she was a little too forward sometimes. It was just a bit off-putting for me. However, as the book goes along, we get to see more and more of the real Brooke, who she is when she isn't partially hidden. I liked that version of Brooke much better. Maybe part of the reason I didn't totally love Brooke in the beginning was because I actually aligned with her very much. So seeing her grow up, in a sense, was really enjoyable and I could also relate to that too. We don't just see Brooke grow in her relationship with Mason; she also grows up professionally and personally...for herself.Mason was a little much for me at the beginning. I just thought he seemed a little cheesy. But as the story continues, we really see more of Mason and the great guy he is. (I think in the beginning of any book, some characters seem superficial or cheesy and that's because we are just meeting them, sometimes through another character's eyes.)After that though...things really start getting good. I really loved seeing Mason and Brooke develop a relationship, and also have fun with each other (sexually and otherwise). I thought the author did a nice job moving the story along, while also adding actual time to their story. I also enjoyed that we see Brooke talking with her sister at one point about meeting "the one" and how sometimes you just know. I liked that the author included those pieces because it made some parts make more sense, especially in terms of speed of relationship.Another aspect I liked was seeing Brooke's past come back into the picture, but in a very subtle way. I was curious how that would come back into things (I just knew it would at some point). I thought the author did this in a really great way, because it seemed like those things really could happen in real life. I appreciated she didn't make that piece of the story into more drama than it needed to be.Overall, I would recommend this book. I ended up staying awake until 5am finishing it, and then I was left with a huge ball of emotions at the end (its not a sad ending or anything, just a lot of feels, lol). I can't wait to check out other books from this author because I know they will be just as good.

one of my top reads for 2015
Well holy hotness!!!! How do i start? I loved Brooke from the first two books and i love her even more now, she is a little spit fire who will rock your world and then leave your heart on crushed on the floor if you are a man. But if you are a woman you will just love her attitude to sex and how damn confident she is about herself. Everything tilts on its axis when Mason the "yeah" guy enters. You will understand what i mean about the use of the word yeah when you read the book and how it will hit you straight in the chest. Mason is not your typical man and especially not the sort of man that Brooke meets everyday. He is intelligent, thoughtful and full of emotions and love for Brooke but it takes a fair few ups and downs to get there and i really enjoyed these. There is a point in the book that i could not believe Mason and what was happening on the pages in front of me i got really really upset and shed a few tears. It took me a bit to get over that and a few cups of tea to calm my nerves. But what i took from this book the most is the amazing writing of this author she writes beautifully and it is filled with smart fast conversations between the characters. But it is also those bits in the characters head as it is a dual POV book that touch you the most. You will laugh, cry and swoon as well as get hot under the collar reading this book.Final point i do not think i have ever had an Aussie on my book boyfriend list before with a fear of a certain animal (read the book to find out which) A 5 cupcake rating from me :) and Brooke is now in my list of top female book characters ever!!! And one of the best books of 2015 for me

liked it
On one hand, this was a nice light read. The way the story is written is fun and playful. The characters know who they are and, especially Brooke, aren't ashamed of that. There is insta-love/lust but it grows into more. With that being said though, I needed the story to be a bit more serious. Because of this I only liked the book, I didn't love it.

Secret Obsession (Sweet Addiction Book 3) by J. Daniels.
A great read, funny, fiesty and définately steamy romantic story which most women will enjoy, where true love was definately not on the âgenda for Brooke until àn adonis by the name of Mason came waltzing into town and sweeping Brooke off her feet. But Brooke does n't know what true.love entails as it usually was a one night stand with her beau's with no flutters of the heart involved until she met Mason and then fireworks started to exploded. Sometimes frustration to read but in all a really fun book to repas. i t

I very rarely leave reviews let alone bad ones but this just left me cold
Just awful, I very rarely leave reviews let alone bad ones but this just left me cold.Read the first eight pages and gave up, gratuitous filth that didn't encourage me to read further.
