39 Lighting Diagrams
This book will be valuable to a portrait photographer and invaluable to anyone starting out that wants an immediate immersion into lighting, including location lighting. The authors include 39 portraits with lighting diagrams that clearly illustrate how the sht was made in addition tot he commentary. They also prepared a "shooting tips" section and photoshop tutorials for those interested in more background of their style. The Amazon "Look Inside" feature does not do this book justice. It is a keeper.

This is probably one of the best books I've read on the subject of Photography in a long time. Being that I'm self taught I make sure to research and educate myself on the subject as much as I can while still physically going out and shooting (learning by trial and error) so this book drove a lot of things home for me.It's not one of those books that's filled with the photographers images and very little information on how he came about achieving them. This book is almost a step by step book on how to set up your lighting, techniques on how to use certain light modifiers and so much more. This is a must have book!

Awesome diagrams, easy to use.
I saw this book at Barnes and Noble and after flipping through it for 30 minutes, decided that I had to have it. I ended up ordering it from Amazon.com to save some money, and I haven't been disappointed. This book is full of large, beautiful images. On the adjacent page to the image, there is a diagram for the lighting setup used to get the overall feel of the portrait. This book is easy to use and makes great use of page space with image samples instead of wordy text. The author takes to heart the learning style of "show" rather than "tell". I will be turning to this book a lot as it's a definite keeper.

Don't waste you money
I had to buy it for a class I took, but was not very impressed with 50% of the images. Also, the technical descriptions and lighting diagrams are crude and basic. Don't waste you money, there are better books out there.

Very Well Written
I love the simplicty of this book. It was worth every dime. The diagrams and meta data made the examples doable and easy to understand. I love to read it again and again for ideas!
