A wonderful book, but a confusing bit of work if you aren't terribly familiar with Dee, his diaries, and really just the whole lot of his work. While it might be slightly confusing to a new reader to the occult/esoteric world, there are segments that are pretty universally readable.

One of the very best esoteric masterpieces
Note: Amazon has perhaps easy for them but in this reviewer's humble opinion sub-optimal practice of copying reviews of one edition of a book to all other editions. This reviewer has the Red Wheel / Weiser paperback edition including an introduction and comments, the latter after the text. From the frontispiece: "Qui non intelligit, aut taceat, aut discat." (Who understands not should either be silent or learn.)Dr. John Dee, according to the short biography included, lectured when 23 years old on Euclid in Paris, "which caused a sensation in the intellectual circles of the continent." The Hieroglyphic Monad is the esoteric complement to Euclid's "Elements" in pure Hermetic Tradition with extremely little theological addition, this little to help avoid persecution. The "keys" are within one's Self. The reader will understand exactly what he is "entitled" to. The introduction and comments are at times helpful but of course not exhaustive.Dr. John Dee has manifested a true traditional masterpiece. It is symptomatic of our times (end of the iron or dark age) that the French translation is currently out of print. As the introduction states, "... the Dons and men of academic degrees ... are neither concerned nor interested."

Gives what it promises
This is not for beginners. I understood basically nothing that I read haha but I could feel the resonance of a body of knowledge.

The monad
This is an excellant book and it covers the philosophorum calculus. All you need is in the symbolizm of this monad but I suggest also getting the hieroglyphica monas which is the original latin version which omitts nothing like this book jones omitts the letter to maxamillian that its acential to have because dee argues his points of his monad. When studyingstuff like this you need as much of the information as you can.But trust me no key is left out you just have to search right and with open eyesthese symbols will tell there own story. But its worth the effort for those interested in the philosophers stone.

Classic
A straightforward print of an enigmatic, but beautiful, text. Omits many of the frills of other versions but does include the original plates.

Delivered as ordered!
Good edition of Dee's work.

Good text, poor images.
Well written faithful reproduction. My main complaint is that the images are not clear. I cannot make out the text in many of the images. Zooming in makes it worse.

Interesting little book. I would consider myself a spiritual alchemist and not an alchemist in the physical chemistry, so I can only gather so much out this book as it does appear to me to be an encrypted writing for alchemists. With that said, I still very much enjoyed reading John Dee's work - the guy was a genius for the time and likely would still be considered so in our time - and I will likely go back to it again and again in an effort to get more out of it. Anyone interested in esoteric/occult wisdom really should have this book on their shelf.

Great reference to historical symbolism
I found it very interesting learning about some of our worlds oldest symbols and how they came about.

MONAD
This small but revealing work alludes to nature of things. And hints at Gold and philosophers stone. Read and digest.

Man lese bitte John Dee: The World of the Elizabethan Magus: The World of an Elizabethan Magus zuerst!
