If you are a woman, know a woman, care about a woman--read this book.
Beth Cabrera knows about working women and well-being. She’s a working mother, a psychologist, and a professor who researches and teaches at the #1 Well-Being University in the country: George Mason. There’s no doubt that her book will become a roadmap for working mothers who want to lead a happier, healthier life. She presents a compelling argument why women can’t do it all. She also presents a much better alternative: Well-being. Her formula contains two simple and powerful factors: Feeling Good (being mindful, grateful, and hopeful) and Doing Good (living your values, developing your strengths, and having a positive impact). She also presents compelling data, stories, and fascinating research around the most important element of thriving—being socially connected.Beth Cabrera has written an important book for women and men alike. We need to pay attention to what we expect from each other. Outdated social constructs around the role of women are not only irrelevant but also pernicious to a healthy, productive society. Men and women need to address policies, attitudes, and expectations. Moreover, Cabrera has given us all a clear path toward being happier, healthier and more purposeful.

What a refreshing book! Dr. Cabrera's book does a great job of walking the reader through many of the challenges that we face in our lives. I really enjoyed the stories of other working women that have faced similar difficulties trying to balance the commitments of work and family. It had been a few years since I read a self-help book and was pleasantly surprised by the content and the introduction to other authors and resources. This is a great addition to my library.

Great book to bring your attention to some of the challenges in the workplace for women and how that impacts our well-being. But, the best part is that different tips, tricks, and practices are offered to help women "take charge" of their well-being, better manage the things that impact it, and build resilience going forward.

The Myth of Work Life Balance Explained...Finally!
Although my children are now grown, I found myself relating to Beyond Happy. Cabrera weaves together a tapestry of positive psychology research and personal stories that made me stop, pause, and ask myself, "What am I doing to both feel good and do good in this world?" A quick read, chock full of practical advice backed by social science research, Beyond Happy should be required reading for every young woman. My only wish is that there were more stories about less privileged women.Margaret H. Greenberg is the co-author of Profit from the Positive: Proven Leadership Strategies to Boost Productivity and Transform Your Business, with a foreword by Tom Rath (McGraw-Hill).

Must-read for every working woman!
This book is a must-read for every working woman! Talented writer Beth Cabrera, a positive psychology authority and herself a working mother, presents tools to reduce stress, increase happiness, and find meaning and purpose in life.Cabrera first shares the results of her extensive research to explain why today’s career women are unhappier than ever. Next, she offers a short self-assessment to help the reader determine her own level of well-being. For the remainder of the book, Cabrera incorporates positive psychology, mindfulness principles, and women’s real-life experiences for a step-by-step road map to increased well-being.Cabrera’s friendly, informative writing style makes for a fluid read—easy to curl up with at the end of a long working day. Each morning, I found myself eager to put her practices to work, and have already seen positive results.I plan to gift this book to my daughter—a freshly-minted career woman who is already struggling with work- and personal- life balance—and recommend it to any working woman seeking to find balance, purpose, and joy in all aspects of life.-Penny Gilchrist

Good book
I bought this book after reading few chapters on the books24x7 and enjoyed reading it. I bought it particularly to be able to go through the exercises in the book, which I found very helpful. I didn't learn anything that I didn't know before, but it reinforced many things I was aware of already and helped me refocus. It is full of inspiring anecdotes well illustrating main points of the book.
