He has gotten hours of enjoyment from this series and now we can discuss the story together. It is SO superior to Masterpiece Theater on PBS. Masterpiece really made a mess of it. The character of Ross Poldark is well cast and so are a few of the other characters but over all it was a disappointment so we will continue to enjoy the book version. The story is especially interesting to me as I am Cornish on my mother's side of the family. They were miners and their lives must have been so grim. We have both learned a lot about life in the late 1700's to about 1820. Thank you Winston Graham! Review: POLDARK rivets! - This series is awesome! Such well-fleshed out characters; some charming; some despicable! You will be captured by it's story-teller! I shall be sad when it ends!

Got this for my husband
I already have this series on my Kindle and, as a surprise, ordered the box set for my husband. He has gotten hours of enjoyment from this series and now we can discuss the story together. Poldark is a Must Read for all who enjoy historical drama with beautiful story of love
I am now on Book 8 of the 12 book series. It will sadden me to reach the end of the final book. Each page is a page turner...very difficult to stop reading so sleep can come. Descriptions of life in Cornwall in the time period is vivid and so real, I feel I'm personally witnessing each day and event in the lives of the Poldark's and their friends and not so friendly acquaintances. Fascinating.

I purchased the series for myself . The author Winston Graham is excellent at weaving a great story . I highly recommend the Poldark series .

Hard to read. Watched series on tv so still interested but takes a lot of energy to keep up with characters.

The Poldark series (books 1 to8 so far) are written im a somewhat old fasjioned tone but are very readable. Keep a dictionary handy for obscure words! I have enjoyed!
