The Photographer's Guide to Rocky Mountain National Park

Cannot wait to use the ideas and tips/tricks provided by the author. Being a novice photographer of the national parks and wildlife always looking to improve and learn. This is a great and thorough book. Written for the average skill level to be able to read and utilize in real time and real situations. Thank you!

The reason I give it four stars instead of five is it should have been titiled The LANDSCAPE Photographer's Guide to RMNP. For landscape photo tips and locations it excels, and is indispensible for new visitors like me. However, since the title simply says Photographer's Guide... I would have liked to see coverage of wildlife photography. I imagine most people go to Rocky Mountain to see wildlife primarily and scenery secondarily (similar to Yellowstone). However this book makes only a couple passing references to wildlife. Ideally the publisher would rename it Landscape Photographer's Guide and find a wildlife photographer to do a companion volume in the same size and format called Wildlife Photographers Guide. The very short section at the end listing animals to see only has features on four species: bighorn sheep, elk, moose, marmot. What about all the birds, like the tundra specialized ptarmigan? What about reptiles (of any kind)? What about chipmunks, coyotes, bears, mule deer, etc? This book is outsanding for what it is: a guide for landscape photographers. Just make sure that is all you are looking for.

Just got this after ordering last summer after going to RMNP. Going back this summer to do a backpacking trip and five minutes after getting this book I can already tell of the value that this book will bring to ALL visitors to RMNP. Yes it’s a great resource for photographers, but what visitor doesn’t like views?What a great compilation of all RMNP has to offer. I’ve never reviewed anything on Amazon but felt compelled to leave this review.
