Tips on how to use
I've been using this product for years now and frankly I think it is the most natural looking and best way to get the grey out and it's super affordable. I use it on my hair and beard and it works great. That said this product is not as easy to use as the manufacturer would have you believe. Here are some tips that I have picked up over the years. 1. If you tolerate it, I like to put it in my hair and beard and let it sit for a while (about 30 minutes) before rinsing it off. I feel this gets you to the desired color faster and it lasts longer. Be careful to only get the shampoo on the intended area as your skin may stain and its hard to clean off. 2. This stuff stains everything. I keep the the tube in a freezer bag (even in the shower) as it always leaks a bit from the cap and it will stain anything the tube is sitting on. Do not leave a tube to sit in the shower or on a counter without it being in a bag. 3. Wear surgical gloves or remember to wash your hands quickly especially around the fingernails. If this stuff gets under your fingernails its hard to get out and looks terrible. 4. Don't shake your head vigorously in the shower while rinsing. Just let the water flow over your head and agitate it mildly, otherwise the drops will get all over your shower curtain and you guessed it, stain it. 5. Use a dedicated old towel you don't care about for drying your hair after using the product. I bought a black towel on Amazon and I only use that when drying my hair after using this. Remember to wash that towel alone and not with other clothes. 6. If you do get drops on the bathroom counter of shower, clean it up quickly. If you miss a spot and the stain won't come up easily because its been sitting for a while, try a magic eraser. Again, I love the product, but to keep the dye just in your hair and not anywhere else you don't want it is a process. I hope you found these tips helpful

Works Great
After the allergy test you just use it once or twice a week until you get the result you are looking for then as needed to maintain the look. Easy to use. Use as directed to avoid any staining of shower, hands, fingernails, etc. Not that hard to do. I wash my hands thoroughly after use and have NEVER had a problem. You will see a purple color when it mixes with regular soap (like when you wash your hands). This is normal too. Rinse surfaces and your hair thoroughly to avoid purple stains. Again not a big deal. This is my fourth bottle. Works like a dream. Maintains look well. Hair washes well, feels clean and looks good, and you don't need a lot to get a decent lather. Scent is not overpowering. Keep it tightly closed and away from extra air. As you get towards the end of the bottle you will see the product turn darker/black. It's normal. I try to keep as much air out of the bottle as I can. Well worth the money to get rid of some of the gray.

Works but you have to keep using it.
Effective at covering gray and white hair, with a few drawbacks. First of all, it works but you have to keep using it, otherwise the dye wears off in say a month or so and it makes the hair you have even whiter. I used it, and decided I needed to get on it again, being basically a young looking middle aged man (I can pass for mid 30's and still get carded on occasion for beer) with white hair. Now, I'm not completely white, but it's more white than brown. Can't even see the brown anymore, unless my hair is wet, and even that isn't truly brown. Let's face it, I'm getting old. Sure I don't have wrinkles, sure I don't grow enough facial hair for a decent goatee, but my hair is white and getting whiter. So here I am, buying the dye non dye to shampoo myself to youth... Or at the least, the hair color I had late 30's. That's all one is going to get out of this, and you have to keep using it or it wears off and leaves your hair even whiter or lighter than before. Tips: slather it in good (wear gloves) and leave it there for about 5-10 minutes. The instructions say 1 minute, but intrepid souls or those just trying to get their money's worth, leave it in a bit longer. Then wash it out (don't shampoo with something else after, let it sit there a day or so. Then do it every other day until it runs out. Sure, you can get some water into it and squirt that on your head, but one bottle goes a long way. Just expect to need a bottle a month. Once you have the desired color, then all you need is some maintenance. Use it twice or three times a month. You look marginally better, and it's so gradual everyone will notice but it will take them longer. She says: "Hey, did you cut your hair?" You answer: "nah, I'm using just for men" She says: "oh, so you dye your hair. Tell me, do you paint your nails too?" Anyway, it could go down like that... And probably will but, who cares? Family and friends will notice it, but most won't. It doesn't give a tacky look. It isn't a dye per se, not in the traditional mixing chemicals and going at it sort of way, but it will stain your hands and bath area. Doesn't burn, doesn't cause a reaction to me but people with sensitive skin should maybe spot test it. Nearly 11 dollars for what used to cost about 7. The times they are a changing. I'll just use it for memories sake, but it works, lasts a little bit, just long enough for me to figure out if I want to buy another bottle.

The best solution I've found. Easy to use and results look the most natural.
I switched from the older Just For Men "Touch Of Grey" hair product and their beard and mustache product to this Control GX shampoo and the Control GX Beard Wash product over a year ago and I'm really happy with it. I give myself a haircut and a beard trim once a week with my trusty Flowbee and a cordless Norelco trimmer and then end up using the GX shampoo and Beard Wash 2-3 days in a row to cover up grey exposed by the haircut and beard trim. Then I can go the next 4-5 days with regular shampoo before I start the process over again. My hair is/was a medium brown and I'm about 70-80% grey now. I was using the M30 shade of Just For Men hair dye and beard dye. That got pretty close to what is left of my natural hair color. So you're gonna have to extrapolate to your own hair color and level of gray you're trying to cover up. Darker hair and more gray will require more work than lighter hair and less gray. It's gonna be different for everyone. The results are more natural and better looking than the Touch Of Grey product and you're not really losing much time. With the Touch of Gray there is the time spent measuring out the product and then mixing it then applying it with a little brush then cleaning up the brush and tray. With the Control GX products you have none of that. You just squeeze out roughly the amount you want and lather it in. As for wait time, the Just For Men advises a 5 minute wait before washing it out. I found that I sometimes needed 7-10 minutes if my weekly haircut had exposed a lot of gray that particular week. So between prep time, application, cleanup, and wait time, I was already in the 10-15 minute range. With the Control GX products I've found a different method works best to get the most out of the product. I'll hop in the shower and wash my hair and beard with regular shampoo to make sure skin oil and any hair products are not going to interfere with the dye. Then, without drying my wet hair and beard, I'll apply the Control GX beard wash first, then the Control GX shampoo at the sink in front of a mirror which helps me see what I'm doing. I'll set a timer on my iPad for 10 minutes then brush my teeth, shave my neck, and whatever else I need to do, lay out my clothes, etc. to kill off the 10 minutes. Then it's just hop back in the shower and rinse off the dye. Most weeks, I'll have to repeat the process 2 days in a row. Sometimes one application is enough. Sometimes a 3rd application is necessary. But a tube of product lasts me about a month, maybe 6 weeks. Not bad. When you're first starting out, especially with facial hair, you may have to go through the routine 4-5 times the first week to get the level of color/gray you want. But once you get that initial color you want, maintaining it means applying it once or twice a week in most cases. What you get is a much better blending of gray and brown hair that can be managed to any level you want by altering the number of applications and the amount of time you leave it in. It's much harder to screw up because each application has a pretty subtle effect. The difference between 5 and 10 minutes won't create a disaster like the old product could. The one caveat I'd offer is to wear the plastic gloves provided. I've gotten lazy a couple of times and tried to rinse my hands quickly after lathering up. For some reason, even a brief exposure to fingernails will dye them too, no matter how much hand washing you do. And it takes a week for it to go away. Just wear the gloves! I guess this makes sense since this stuff is made to dye hair and hair is made of Keratin, and so are your fingernails. Anyway, great product and easy to use.

It works discreetly and well.
Really works great! I have tried MANY other products to gradually darken my white hair. Finally got a working product that is gentle and smells great.

Great product! Guy-approved
EDIT: I need to come back and revise this :( Initially we love the shampoo, but overtime it starts to deposit too much color on the hair and fails to deposit enough at the root. I looked over one day and my guy had the look of a 40 year old man who has dyed his hair unnaturally dark. We tried everything. Leaving some sitting only on the scalp. Using less frequently. It just doesn’t work for him long term. He has longer hair, so maybe this wouldn’t be an issue for someone with a short style who’s getting more regular cuts. ———— Great product! My bf’s hair went white seemingly overnight. He has shoulder length, moderate thickness, 3a curls. He is not the type to dye his hair, and was initially resistant because he didn’t want to look “weird”, too dark, or have it be obvious he was dying it. This product has been a nice in between. He doesn’t feel like he’s dying his hair in the traditional sense, and the color builds over time, so it feels subtle and natural enough that he was comfortable. We’ve done some trial and error figuring out the process that works best. If you’re using it everyday, it can be me quite dark. So once he feels like enough color has built up, he backs off and uses less. Then he just focuses on the roots, occasionally does his whole head, and sometimes leaves it on for a few min in the shower before rinsing. It’s been really affordable and a single bottle lasted several months. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well it’s worked and definitely recommend trying it!

Works well on thick Asian hair—leave it on longer and wear gloves
I’m Asian with thick, coarse hair. Instead of the suggested 1–2 minutes, I leave this shampoo on for about 3–4 minutes before rinsing, which gives me the best results. After roughly a month of use, my grays became much less noticeable; now I just use it about once a week for maintenance. The downside: it stains fingernails black, even if you wash them right away. I recommend using disposable plastic gloves when applying. The results were good enough that my wife started using it too. Overall, recommended.

Convenient, easy to use hair color
I almost did not purchase this product due to others talking about leaving it on their hair so long. Who has time for that. I have found the product easy to use and convenient. It slowly changes your hair color in about two weeks. Just use occasionally after that to maintain the color. Please follow the directions given with the product and go on about your day.
