Very solid book fpr beginner to self taught journeyman
I have been playing guitar for 25 years and am completely self taught and play totally by ear. I know all the chords etc but I had definitely plateau'd as a guitarist. I decided it was time to learn all the individual notes and as many scales as I need. This book is great and starts from square one. Already know that concept? Skip a couple pages and it's on to another. I highly recommend this book.

A Real Teaching book
I bought this last April. It's not something you read in a week, but a study manual that will be used for months. I have bought numerous books from Guitar Head but this is my favorite. After months of reading, learning, and practice I can see improvement. The explanation and process of the pentatonic scale is greatly written and easy to understand. Still not done reading but this is a process and I am definitely learning a lot.

Practical Guide to Fretboard
I’m not done reading this book (I’m about 70 pages in), but this is a really great book for guitarists wanting to move past just playing songs or playing by ear. You really can learn all of the notes on the fretboard in 2-3 hours with the author’s method.I plan to share this book with my son as he is learning to play. I wish I’d had a resource like this when I was first learning. It would have saved a lot of time and been more fun. This also beats the heck out of watching videos on a small screen or printing endless PDFs.If I lost this book tomorrow, I’d buy it again. Looking forward to reading the rest of it.

Wow!!! Amazing!!!
I've been playing guitar for 22 years, I was always one of those tablature players, and while I did learn scales and notes while playing the saxophone, piano, and percussion... I never actually took the time to do it on guitar. Buying this book was to finally correct that bad idea that I had somehow always convinced myself was a good choice. It was a very bad idea and always held me back. I'm only the page 45 so far... And I've already made more useful connections in just a few hours, then I had figured out our last 22 years. Don't listen to anyone who says this book is just average, this is not the first time I tried a guitar book for this exact reason, and the other ones I tried were never even close to this helpful!!!

Great set of books but get the individual tiles!
I bought this combined set and then returned it, then ordered the individual titles. The reason I returned the set was that it was almost impossible to get to the table of contents of the books. The content is the same and great, however, in the combined set, the ability to get to or return to a particular section of the book was totally daunting if not impossible!Again the content is fantastic and well written. Buy the individual books.PS: I might say it is not easy to get to the table of contents in the individual books (The Go To Menu has to "Table of Contents" link). However, at least you know the Table of Content is somewhere in the first 10 pages of the individual titles.

Extremely helpful and fun
I knew I needed to learn The fretboard But what a daunting task. The 65 year old brain Just doesn't work like it used to But after going through the book I know I'm gonna be able to memorise what I need to and I know where to find the notes on the fretboard And who needs anything else. It's a fun read And there a lot of tricks and games To grind The boring information into my brain and make it stick. To our author thanks so much for the work put into this book in the little extras on the side. I'm off to read your next book

Quick and easy lessons. Easily learned FB in 2 hours.
Stands by the claim of 24 hour fretboard understanding. I do not have much experience in music theory. In fact, I have next to no music theory experience. GH breaks down the neck into simplest form and teaches this first. You are then taught how to quickly and easily apply these lessons to the rest of the fretboard. I did this section in <2 hours. 22 hours left to practice and solidify the concepts. Very pleased.

IMPRESSED!
GUITAR SCALES WORKSHOP is incredible. Loved the short, simple, and jocular narratives presented; however, the author ACTUALLY produces in his guarantee of "Learning The Fretboard in as little as 24 hours!" From this book, I had my fretboard basically memorized in about 30 minutes using the author's techniques! I HIGHLY recommend this book for beginner guitarists and for those of us with many years of experience playing the guitar but TOO embarrassed to say, "I don't know the notes on my guitar's fretboard", as I once did! GUILTY as charged! What a truly magical experience! WOW! Here is a book that ACTUALLY produces, enjoyably and easily read, and the results are...RIGHT NOW! THUMBS UP, Guitar Head! Thanks.

Must have book for budding guitarist.
Been messing with the guitar for years and never really took it seriously, I've always wanted to be able to sit down and just rattle off a few tunes and never could because I didn't know where to go on the fret board. This book has definitely shown me where to go and what to do. The book keeps its promise of learning the notes on the fret board in 24 hours, I did it in an hour ! Not sure if I'm going to be a guitar god but it sure shows you how if you can be bothered to put the time and practice in. To quote a great saying from the book... Give a man a fish and he'll feed him self for a day.. show a man how to fish ...and we'll you know the rest. A must have book for everyone that wants to learn how to play the guitar.

Very mediocre. Other books do a better job and with less needless padding.
After going through the books I think it's an ok aid for a beginner, a lot of basics are covered very lightly but they are mixed in with annoying and aimless ranting, the author keeps trying to sell the book even though I've already bought it with stuff like "but before we get to that, let me just prepare you with this story" and "soon you will realise that this book is all you need". It has very poorly laid out pages, sometimes the heading for one page will be at the bottom of the previous page and there is a lot of white space, I think they combined 3 books into 1 and didn't bother proofreading it. There is more content on the website which is linked in the book which they say is 'too much to include' but is actually very small and just a ploy to get you to go on their website. I'm going to avoid books from this company from now on.Although it has some good stuff in it, other books do it better and with more content and less rubbish to pad it out. You would do better to either google the contents of this book, or buy one from a more reputable company.

Looks the part
Not yet started, if it's as good as the other books I have read from guitar head it will be spot on. I already owned the fretboard book, so almost didn't buy it. Then I noticed as a triple pack it's cheaper than buying the other 2 separately, so was a no brainer for me

Not for beginners at all
Learn to read music first, then learn the fretboard. Then get this book. It’s for people who can already play, it teaches nothing basic sadly.

Full of excellent information, a must for Guitar players, from Novice to experienced.
A must for the Guitarist, full of information in a easy to read format, light hearted, it’s just like having your own Mentor with you whilst learning the Guitar. Recommend this to everyone playing the Guitar. The bonus’s are superb, showing you what to do, and amazingly where I have been going wrong.
