Happy Singles Day
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~4*s of island romanceThis is a fun read, sweet, cute and low angst.Parker is forced into taking a break by her hilarious assistant, and ends up paying a small fortune to go and stay in a B&B on an island for a few days rest. The reality is not much like the website, but a storm forces her to stay at least for a while. We really feel how she struggles to relinquish the control and the pressure that normally rule her life.As we see her come to terms with being stuck, Lucas has to come to terms with having an unexpected guest. They are both two very hurt individuals, who also feel an inconvenient attraction to each other. And so the scene is set for a romance with in no small part relies on Lucas's four year old daughter. This was a well written story, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you AM Walker.~~Wicked Reads Review Team~~

Enjoyable and emotional read
I was first introduced to Ann Marie Walker with last year’s delightful [ASIN:B087DMKNB5 Save the Date]. Having enjoyed that book immensely, I was keen to get stuck into this - her newest offering. From the description, this book sounds quite similar to [ASIN:B087DMKNB5 Save the Date] - cute, quirky, fun and romantic. It *is* all those things, but where the two diverge is that this book has extra depths and a lot more emotional content. Our story features a rather uptight Paige, a woman who is dedicated to her job after a rather disastrous attempt at love and marriage. She likes organisation, lists, chocolate, Friends and has a good knowledge of the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles. Simply - she was a woman after my own heart and I loved her. She was no cookie cutter stereotype, though, and she was a fully developed character who felt very real to me.Lucas is the grumpy (yay!) B&B owner who is none too pleased at having a guest in his house - especially one as annoying and tempting as Paige. I felt we really got to know Lucas as a person, mostly as pertained to his own previous love life and heartbreak. And his heartbreak felt like my own. Even now, I’m finding it hard to choose the words to explain how realistically devastating parts of Lucas’s story were.Lucas and Paige played well off each other and I truly felt that the pair were exactly what the other needed. In terms of sex, this is a ‘door remains closed’ romance, but you can still feel a satisfying chemistry and connection between our couple. There are plenty of kisses, touches, looks and gestures that build the relationship and the tension.Ms Walker once again blew me away with the skill of her writing. It was so well crafted that I was in awe. The characters came alive for me and the island of Aurelia all but jumped off the page. Even the secondary characters worked their way into my heart - Maddie, Sophie, Sammy, the puppies, and even Stanley the avocado! So I loved the characters, the setting, the story, the romance and the love - why didn’t I give the book 5 stars? Well, it kind of goes back to my point about Lucas above. His backstory is tragic and I admit, I absolutely sobbed my way through several passages of the book. I do usually prefer things a bit lighter, but that didn’t affect my rating. It’s just that I felt Lucas was still in love with his first wife. Would have given anything to have her back. It gave me pause in what is obviously Lucas and Paige’s own love story, although I completely understand the difficult emotions his situation must bring. This is a story about second chances and moving on - and as a result I was left feeling upbeat and happy at the end, if a little emotionally wrung out! I very much enjoyed this story and Ms Walker’s writing style and would happily recommend this story. I’m hoping there will be more to come from this world - a story for Sophie would be awesome - so we’ll get to check in on Paige, Lucas and Maddie in the future. A very high 4 star rating from me.

Great read
Paige sets off on her holiday to celebrate Singles Day, and from the moment she steps off the boat things start to go wrong. Stuck on the island with reluctant host Lucas, she tries to make the best of the situation. As they spend more time together, will it be a case of opposites attract or is Lucas not ready to move on?A great read, and I liked how it was told from both of their points of view. Also, Maddie was a great character.I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.

This story is an absolute dream to read!
This is the sweetest story! Ann Marie Walker has created absolutely realistic, believable characters, and plopped them in a stunning setting. Happy Singles Day is just the right mix of emotionally bruised hero and heroine, cute kid, puppies and cake and this story is an absolute dream to read! There is tension and emotion and some really weighty things that both Paige and Lucas carry in their past. But, being thrown together to ride out a storm in a questionable B&B leaves them little choice but to get to know one another. It's a delicate dance but they perform it beautifully discovering so much about themselves, each other and their capacities for both love and change. The build up is great, but most of the steamy-ish scenes are pretty much fade to black. Though they certainly pack enough emotion that you don't really miss the steam. The characters and settings are unique and lovingly-well-developed! I enjoyed Happy Singles Day immensely and highly recommend it for a Valentine's Day read or any day you want to get lost in good story! ❤️An advance copy of this book was received from the author. Receipt of this copy did not impact the content or independence of this review. BFF Book Blog also uses a set of icon ratings. Cute Love Story
This story was very cute. It was a second chance for love for both main characters, but I would say discussion of their different types of loss were kept very light. It's a feel-good read with some humorous parts.

A Grumpy Single Dad to Love
This featured two of my favourite things: a grumpy single dad and an inn setting. Woo! It was surprisingly more somber than I expected based on the cover, but I say that with zero complaints because it was incredibly sweet and balanced by lighthearted humour.Convinced by her assistant to take a vacation, professional organizer Paige takes the opportunity to celebrate February 15th—Single Awareness Day—and books a week solo at the Copper Lantern Inn. As the lone guest at the unexpectedly grungy inn, she meets Lucas Croft, the arrogant owner.Although inexcusably rude at times, I felt for Lucas. Living with the memory of what the inn represents, he is a man in pain. I really adored seeing his connection with Paige bloom through shared meals, animal rescue adventures, and a game of ten questions. Given their relationship takes place within a week, yes it develops quickly, but it somehow worked for me.And the setting of Aurelia was wonderful—an island with zero vehicles! I'd love to revisit this world and its characters again.

A perfect, modern, Rom-Com.
Paige sets off on a much-needed break from the chaos of city life to celebrate Singles Day alone at a quaint Inn in North Carolina. She arrives during a Nor-easter, but it's she who brings the storm to the Inn's owner, Lucas' life. Neither are prepared for the mix of feelings they encounter during her stay, and neither can deny their attraction. With separate lives and long distance standing between them, will love be enough to ditch the single life?I loved the dialog between Paige and Lucas. The pop-culture references they shared had be laughing out loud and cheering them on. The contrast between their connection and their tension made for a great story and satisfying ending.
