Biography of Henri Matisse’s later years.
It is a very good biography of the later years in Henri Matisse’s life. I just read several artists biographies to my granddaughter. It’s an ideal selection for kindergarten through seconders studying various styles of art.

Good supplement to art class for kids
I read this book in conjunction with a couple of homeschool art lessons for 6 and 7-year-olds. The children seemed to enjoy it although I had to explain the ending a little bit — I won't spoil it here. The illustrations went well with the story and the class did enjoy it.

Wonderful bedtime story for art-loving children
Such a lovely story told in colorful and simple pictures. The pictures that convey a short bio of the artist are catchy, and story is told at a very nice pace. By the end, it is impossible to not love Matisse, his cutouts, his birds, his seaside home, and his mother. A wonderful bedtime story for art lovers!

Matisse dies at the end
I bought this to be a gift for my 3 year old niece. But I didn't realize until I received it that Matisse dies at the end of the book (looking back, it is in the description.) It's a little bold in my opinion to gift a book with death to a child that young, so I will be keeping this lovely book for my child.

Great Book about Matisse for Younger Kids
This books contains the general story of Matisse's life without dates or too many details. It focuses on his paper cut-out period. The books has lots of cute and colorful illustrations. I would use this book for younger children: preschool - 1st or 2nd grade.

Great “Art History” type book for young children
Cute book that is easy for kids to understand. Read it to my young preschool class for the book of the week and they made Matisse collages from looking at the pictures in the book. Pretty fun.

One of my favourite children’s books about an artist. I love that the illustrations are also collage (very appropriate), and that there is text from Matisse’s won journals woven throughout. Beautiful work and highly recommend!

A lovely story to introduce these extraordinary works of art that lighten up the world and are so worth seeing at first hand. We were lucky to have an exhibition in our local gallery in Gosport a few months ago and now the Tate - so wow. But this book will be a little treasure for the younger members of the family for some time to come.
