What size chain recommended for this anchor? Also recommended size (thickness) of rope?

Depends on your boat size and usual maximum depth of water where you plan to anchor. I have a 22 ft Stingray and usually anchor in water that is 20 feet or less. I have a 8 lb Danforth fluke anchor with a 5/16 inch chain that is 6 feet long. I also have 150 feet of 3/8 inch nylon anchor line.

For 20 mph winds I would not use this style anchor, get yourself a grappling or claw anchor in the 12 to 15 pound range you’ll be glad you did. I only use this anchor out the back of my boat with the claw anchor out the front

how could be this a 20 pound anchor when the shipping weight is 17 pounds

I did not weigh it, but it is big and heavy. I added a 24 inch chain to the front as suggested. It holds my 24 foot pontoon boat very well. You can't beat this anchor for the price.

Im looking for advice choosing between the 13e and 8s. Roughly same cost and fluke size. I have a 24ft tritoon. Sand and mud conditions

8s will likely work with enough scope out 13 will grab with less scope but is pretty large anchor to store
