Battery LASTS!
I have used this scale for a couple years now and it is very consistent and accurate. The battery LASTS a long time. Still have not replaced it. Display is easy to read as long as you are not at too much of an angle. Came calibrated as verified by brand new calibration weights. Very high quality piece of equipment.

Excellent.
I've owned this scale for over a year and use it all the time to weigh my coffee.I love the square-shaped, stable weighing surface and the size is just perfect for me. It's also very easy to clean (removable top) and looks great with that modern stainless finish. Not only that, but it has a nice weighty feel to it with thick rubber anti-slip pads and amazing build quality.I wanted something that would resolve down to 0.1 gram increments and this does the job perfectly. It seems fairly accurate to me, but that's only based on adding and removing items and getting back to the same weight (give or take 0.1 gram or so). However, I did watch some video reviews before purchasing this and they measured the accuracy of this scale to be quite good, so I trust it completely for my [less than ultra-sensitive] coffee brewing purposes.I measure in grams, but it will also do ounces, pennyweights, and troy ounces. The tare feature is useful for placing a container on the scale (e.g., an empty bowl) and zero'ing out the weight so that you can properly measure the weight of contents added to the bowl. I haven't used the Hold feature, but it's there too.If I had to say anything negative about the scale, it would be that the viewing angle of the LCD is fairly limited. I'd be okay with the limited viewing angle if the LCD faced directly upwards, but since it's on an angle, it requires you to step back to see the readings sometimes.I'm fine with that - this is really a great scale and the limited viewing angle of the LCD only takes away about 0.5 stars. Easy for me to round up to 5 stars considering the exceptional build quality, perfect form factor, and accuracy.Lastly, I'd mention that the battery life has been outstanding. I don't think I've changed a set of batteries yet. All in all, I highly recommend this product.

Basic. Dependable
Use all the time, had it a year, have changed batteries twice. So far no problems.

Precise, but inaccurate
The ideal scale would be both precise and accurate, precision being how close several measurements of various weights are to each other (meaning weighing several items with identical weights would yield the same value for each). On the other hand, accuracy is how close those measurements are to the "true weight", meaning if you weight 100 weights that each weigh 500 g, and after each of the 100 measurements the scale says "500.0 g" each time, the scale is accurate and precise. If, however, after each of the 100 measurements the scale says "500.3 g" each time, it is precise, but precisely inaccurate by having a +0.3 g inaccuracy. This is what happened with this scale; every 10.0 g would read as 10.1 g, 20.0 g would read as 20.2 g, etc. While the scale is very precise, it required calibration directly out of the box. Fortunately, this scale has a calibration feature. Unfortunately, it requires I have 3 calibration weights: a 2000.0 g, a 1000.0 g and a 500.0 g, which I don't have. But hold on to your hat, there, Curly Sue! Surprise, surprise! They offer a set of calibration weights (and for no paltry sum). I think I'll just compensate for the difference, as I said, it is still precise, I just hope the rest of you received properly calibrated scales. 3 stars.

Display unreadable unless you view at eye level
I bought this scale for a very specific purpose - to measure portafilters (for espresso machines) before and after coffee was added to the filter basket. The 2kg weight limit, 0.1g accuracy and the size of the weighing platform all seemed to suit.Once I received the scale, I found a few disappointments - one is minor, but one is major enough to render the scale unusable for my needs - and since I live in Canada and ordered it to a US address, it just isn't worth the time or money to return the product - so I'm stuck with a $40 lemon - but I do want to make potential purchasers aware of a fairly glaring design problem with the scale:The display is NOT READABLE from any angle above the scale - you have to actually bend down and get eye level with the scale to read the blue display. If you stand above the scale, or even in front of the scale looking down (as most would, if the scale is on a countertop), all you see is a blank blue display. The manufacturer is using a LED display that has very poor viewing angles. It is a design flaw on American Weigh's part because they angled the display on this scale - if the display was flat and facing upwards, you'd probably be able to read it no problems. But because it is angled 45 degrees, reading from above shows the exceptionally poor viewing angles this cheap display has.To use it, everyone in my workspace has to bend down so their heads are at counter height to read the display. There is also one other minor problem - the scale seems to "float" the weight a bit before settling, especially with heavier items. It can take as much as 5 seconds for the scale to "settle down" at the final weight when I'm doing the portafilter / coffee weighing.I do not recommend this scale.

The screen legibility is fine. I use this as a coffee scale for ...
For those that are hesitating to buy an otherwise highly rated product as I did because of some reviews that report the screen is hard to read, take heart in my relief upon receiving the scale that these complaints are utter nonsense. The screen legibility is fine. I use this as a coffee scale for weighing my porta-filter for which it has a decent sized platform. No issues with screen angle, if you are standing directly over the scale looking down maybe you have to adjust your angle to slightly more diagonal, which means moving back about 5 or 6 inches. The scale is a solid and seemingly well designed product. Buy this scale without hesitation.

Great scales
Very good for weighing my cake ingredients. It wasn't made clear in the description that the plug did not come with it. Luckily a plug off another electrical item fitted it.

Inaccurate scales.
Scales fluctuate wildly, sometimes by as much as three grams with nothing on them and does the same after weighing. No good for weighing coffee out.
