You'll get the most natural looking curls or waves that last fresh and bouncy for days
This review is going to sound over dramatic, as if it were a staged review. I assure you, I purchased this wand and have used it for over a month now, and my drama and awe is warranted. Also note my type of hair when reading the review: I have long, very fine, thin, and over-soft hair that lies completely flat to my head when not styled, as if I only had a scant few hairs. But I have a LOT of that hair, so when body is put into it with waves and curls, it takes forever to finish all that hair and it looks about 10x thicker. I have tried so many different curling irons to get a natural curl, from the straight or cone barrels of various sizes to bubble and spiral wands. I have not tried the automatic kind that pull your hair in automatically, but they kinda scare me - LOL. The BedHead Curlipops is hands down the best wand you can find, and a lot easier and quicker too.HOLDING THE WAND HANDLE:--- You never accidentally turn something off, or up or down, due to turning and touching that part of the handle where the buttons are with your hands. This wand has one big switch, one, like the kind you turn a power strip on and off with. It is not loose but holds its clicked position firmly until you intentionally turn it off. So it doesn't switch off when your hand is resting right on it. No other buttons are there to get in the way either.TEMPERATURE OF THE BARREL AND ACCIDENTAL TOUCHING or GLOVES:--- The wand has the perfect high heat needed to capture the curl quickly and be able to hold itself in as little as 10-15 seconds. You absolutely need to use the glove with this in my opinion, because you can accidentally burn the tips of your fingers near the end of the barrel in the time it takes to blink when trying to hold the ends, or if it knocks against your wrists, arm or head. However, they provide the best quality glove I have ever used, probably the most professional quality you can get at this time. Most bubble/spiral wands take a lot of calisthenics to use properly and not get burned, even with included gloves. The other gloves were made of a cheap material that easily grabbed any other strand of hair within a mile of them that you didn't want to include, due to the static cling and plastic-type fibers while trying to grab and divide the sections. That's frustrating. They also were more bulky at your finger tips so it was hard to section the hair easily and cleanly not capable of the same preciseness of just your bare fingers. The gloves with this Bed Head wand are made with a better quality material and fit, and after pushing each finger down as far as they will go (small hands...) the finger tips stay in place and the material lays tight and flat against them to help you be more precise. They also don't have static cling or fibers that hook unwanted strands of hair. They protect my fingers from the barrel for a few seconds when I come into contact with it, but no gloves included with wands can withstand holding the hot barrel for very long. At least none have been designed like that yet. And most of the others either melt with more than a second or two of contact, and/or develop a hole right in the tips you need to use!HOW IT MAKES MY HAIR LOOK:--- I absolutely love how my hair turns out. No matter what approach I use it always looks fantastic. Never before have curls remained in my hair exactly as I curled them for as many days as they do with this one. They don't start to relax within minutes of curling them either leaving me an hour later with flat strands over half my head. The only relaxed look is when I intentionally style it that way. I sleep on the styled hair and when I wake up the curls or waves look like I just finished styling it! What a time saver! And it looks and feels freshly washed for the next two to three days, with the same clean bounce. My hair is straight and thin and can't go more than 24 hours before having to be washed again due to oils, dullness, and flattening. It looks very drab. Something about how this wand is made makes bouncy body that doesn't get duller or greasy, or drab before you shower again. For kicks I tried to see how long the curls would take me before any part of my hair looked like it usually does after 24 hours. It wasn't until Day 4 that the parts of my hair that were NOT touched by the barrel looked needy, near my scalp and ears. Dry shampoo cured it, ("Blow" is the best,) and I showered on Day 5. (unusual, but I was home in the winter and not leaving my house those days, or rolling in mud...) Every curl remained bouncy, soft, and in tact with the original amount of tightness I used. Believe me, no spiral perm ever made my hair look as good as what my hair looks like using this curling wand. That's saying something. A quality wavy perm finally relaxes to a natural look about month two or three.. I loved that look and now I can have it instantly whenever I want it. (Plus, for some odd reason no one knows how to do high quality perms these days. It's been too many years since they were last the rage...) The wand of this BedHead iron allows for asymmetrical curls, and as relaxed or tight as you want. You want asymmetrical because if every strand was curled exactly the same in width or from top to bottom, it looks like fake doll hair. With this wand, each strand of hair you roll has multiple sized waves from top to bottom, and depending how long you leave the strand on the barrel you can have relaxed "I just came from the beach" waves that also last for days, or tighter curl for fancier styles. I like to alternate how long I leave each section in, some looser, some a bit tighter, and I roll each slightly different because you can't go wrong with the barrel.---All the other wands I have tried did various things to my hair that I hated. The straight barrels left my hair looking like I put hot rollers in it, and I have to run my fingers through it otherwise every section looks like a spring coil identical to all the others. That's not natural. My curls eventually combine together as if I rolled one big curl with ⅓ of my hair. However, running my fingers through it to resolve that leaves a bulky fuzziness to it afterwards, like static cling and fly away hairs, and the bottom of my hair expands much further from my head than the mid or top does - think Rosanna Rosanna Danna. Some styles like to use the larger barrels and just comb those kinds of curls out for a soft, wavy look, but I still have the expanded bulk at the bottom and my hair is so thin that combing those kinds of curls creates fly away all over. Cone barrels help a lot with that, but I can't keep the sections of my strands near the top part of the barrel where I started it. It always slips down the barrel before I've gotten the rest wrapped. I burn my fingers all the time with those too. They work beautifully when you are curling someone else's hair because you can keep the barrel either perfectly horizontal while you are working with it, or pull sections out at angles that allow you to pull the upper part of the strand firmly to keep it in place. I have about two strands on my head I can do that with safely.--- I wanted more of the beach waves kind of look, or a natural and relaxed spiral perm look that gently lessens as the curls travel down towards the tips. The cone barrels are the only other wands I have tried that can do that, however due to that difficulty in slippage and wrapping, every curl looks identical and I walk away with multiple burns on my fingers or forehead/temples. It's fine in a pinch when there is nothing else to use and you have a full hour or more to carefully work with it, then you can get the same nice natural curls that this wand gives. But two of the cones I have tried all lost their curls, waves, and bounce within a day, and went almost flat. They claimed the same ceramic or ionic or high tech metal as they all claim now. I don't know what is different about BedHead's materials that they used to make their wand, but it's magical.

Impressed
This is the best curling Iron I've ever owned. It makes the best looking curls. I've never used a curling wand before but it didn't take long to figure out. I used the glove and didn't burn myself. The curls really lasted without hairspray and when I brushed my hair out for the evening I had beautiful, loose, wavy, beachy curls, they lasted through the next day with grace so I didn't have to do my hair again. It works so well AND it's not expensive. I've seen some brands and products in the $75-100+ dollar range and I feel like I got my monies worth with this. Would buy again.

It’s worth every penny
My long hair looked liked I just walked out a shop. Absolutely beautiful… I curled extremely thick hair without straightening or taking small sections. It heats up fast and you would never know but I touched it with the glove it came it. All hair textures you will not be disappointed. I know I will have this for years to come

Curls well but has safety issues
Does a great job creating spiral curls on my frizz-prone, wavy hair. Unfortunately it has no clamp to secure the hair. It’s tricky to twirl the hair around while holding the end in place. I burned myself 3 times in a row because I would accidentally grab it near the hot barrel at some point before I did all my hair. They provide a glove but of course I burn the other hand when I wore it. Finally I gave up on trying to hold my hair carefully with one finger strategically placed. I added a clothespin attached with a hair band as you can see it my photo. Solved the burn problem but really this is a serious design flaw for this product. Taking off 2 stars for that.

Not a fully ambidextrous product, but nice for creating texture for updos.
Received this wand last week, and I feel I'm still learning how to get a good look with it. So far I've not been pleased with every look it's created, but I believe that is my lack of practice with this thing, which I why I gave it 4 stars. The tool isn't a bad tool just because it requires practice, but it does have more of a "learning curve" than the other 7 wands I own (I really like wands). I do feel I've gotten more frizz with this wand than with others, but I also realize that may be user error.BIGGEST CHALLENGE: My main purpose in reviewing is to discuss the specific handedness of this product. It's awkward (for me, at least). To wrap your hair into the grooves (holding the wand upside down and wrapping toward the tip) you really MUST hold the wand in your left hand and wrap the hair with your right. However, my natural process is to hold the wand with my right, and wrap my hair with my left. I'm primarily right handed, but I don't know if my habit is typical for right handers? So, I can't say if I think this is really a right handed product or a left handed product, but I can say that it does not feel ambidextrous, which is sad (but probably unavoidable with this spiral design). If you wrap it the other direction, you hair will cross the spiral grooves, without falling into it, which gives another unique intentionally-less-uniform freeform look.BIGGEST POSITIVE: I also want to mention something I LOVE this wand for, specifically. I think it's great for creating a good texture in the hair for "curly" looking updos. It also gives nice volume for those. I purchased the Instyler Topstyler (which I'm told was used to set Catness's hair in prep for her braids in the Hunger games) but I prefer the results (and control) of this Spiral Wand for texturizing hair. (Also, I believe the Topstyler may not be in production, though I did find this listing TopStyler:Styling Shell Hair Curlers(Heated Ceramic) By Instyler !Brand New!).My next comment will only apply to super-long hair. Hair that's approaching waist length. I believe you will find this barrel too short for you use the in-the-grooves method. I wish it were at least an inch longer (the handle is actually a little longer than the barrel). I wound up wrapping the ends of my hair over itself at the end (and the did end up a little frizzy, sad to say).I dislike that you can't adjust the heat setting, but I really like the On/Off switch placement. It seems like a small detail, but too many wands have button placement that make it entirely too easy to turn the wand off or change the heat setting while you're using the appliance. Happily, this is a non-issue.The cool tip is large, and the cord is tangle free (also, a Velcro cord keeper is attached). Mine arrived with a glove, although I will say this glove was an odd texture, rather like a shower exfoliating glove.Overall, I have no regrets about buying this wand, but I'm not over the moon excited about it, either. I was honestly a little disappointed as getting nice curls with it was not as simple as I had hoped, and I haven't gotten a truly beachy with it yet. My favorite wand, btw, is the Remington Eliptical, which I've found is great for spirals and for natural looking curl (especially if you alternate it with another size wand for a variety of curl sizes). Remington CI96Z1 Silk Ceramic Elliptical Waving Wand, 1-Inch, RedPros:Guides the hair down the barrel, so more hair doesn't wrap around itselfGives a really nice texture for upsdo'sHigh heat (400F)Cooling tipUnique from other wandsCons:Requires holding wand in left hand to thread hair into the grooves.Non-adjustable heat (400 degrees F).Barrel not quite long enough for very long hairRequire more "practice" than other wands.
