This seller realized how tedious changing the battery on the Tom Tom Via 1535 is. It included two different type screw drivers and a pry tool to open the case. In addition the video was necessary and excellent. Mine did not work as nicely as theirs. Ultimately I needed four hands to put it back together, and I missed a screw. Nevertheless, once assembled it worked eventually the maps were updated and the battery took a full charge. It was worth the thirty dollars and a little effort to keep the Tom Tom, which we like. If you are handy with your hands, or someone else is available, and your battery is not charging anymore, go for it.

(This was a 1535TM Tom Tom I bought in 2010) I watched a video on you tube about this before I attempted it. It looked easy and since the current battery was dead, figured what's the worse that can happen? First, following the video was easy. A problem with mine was that my GPS had a wire connected to the board that if you weren't paying attention and just following the video you might have ripped it apart. So, I disconnected that wire and followed the steps. The board didn't just pop off, there are two clamps hooked over the edge of the board that took some effort to dislodge. A this point, my video had ended and I still hadn't got the new battery in. Then there was this stray blue wire that I am not sure what it's purpose is. So I get the new battery in with some effort, put the screws in, uh oh, forgot the clamps, take screws out, pop board back in, line up holes and screw it back in. Then re-connect the other plug, clamp it closed. Now, I push the power button and amazingly it turns back on! So easy, and for just $30 or so I have my GPS back.

The video was very helpful. Tools included made the removal and replacement of the battery much easier. After repeating the process 3 times, I discovered that a new battery wasn't needed at all. The contacts just needed cleaning; the battery removal and replacement process did the trick. My old battery works just fine now.The video is a "must have" in order to open the case. Clean the contacts before purchasing a new battery, you may not need one.Sent the whole kit to my daughter so she can have fun working on her GPS.
