Really Good Information - repeat buyer for gifts
I bought this book when I decided to rescue a puppy that has some American Staffordshire Terrier in him. this is a great little book. It is filled with ideas and explanations of the needs of these puppies. It addresses physical health as well as behavioral training. It is easy to jump around and find the areas you need to read about. I did a lot of reading and exploring on raising a puppy since it was the first dog I have since puppy-hood - other books and articles did not compare to the comprehensive information this one has.I passed it on to a friend who got a pit bull puppy after I did - they found it very useful also. I just purchased another copy for another friend who rescued a pit bull.

Great book!
Pretty good book on pit bulls and amstaffs. Managed to fit a good bit of information into a small book. I would also suggest "American Pit Bull Terrier Smart Owner's Guide" as well. I am pleased with this book.

Generic Cookie Cutter Book
This book had very VERY little information in it with regards to either the American Pit Bull Terrier or the American Staffordshire Terrier. It was a generic, and exceedingly OUTDATED book about purchasing a puppy ANY puppy and housebreaking them. This book still advocates the use of newspaper even though there are such wonderful options as Nature's Miracle pee pads that contain actual grass. These make potty training your pup easy as pie. It also doesn't mention the wonderful options available to apartment dwellers with no back yard. Washable pee pads, disposable pee pads, doggie toilets. It also advocates feeding your dog ONE kind of food their entire lives. Very ham handedly stating one should never change the food one gives one's dog. This is a recipe for malnutrition. Can you imagine eating the same junkfood your entire life? That's what kibble is. Even the best kibble on the market is far too highly processed. This book doesn't even MENTION the benefits of home-cooking for your beloved pet. This book mentions only the most basic illnesses that ALL dogs may get. It says nothing about the breed-specific illnesses one needs to watch for with the AmStaff and the Pitty.Do not waste your money. Hit your local Petsmart for the magazine on Amstaffs and Pitties put out by the creators of Dog Fancy.
