I’ve been using the Auroland Non‑Contact Voltage Tester for a bit now, and it’s honestly a fantastic tool. It powers on quickly, the sensitivity levels are easy to adjust, and the readings have been consistently accurate. The LCD display is bright and clear, and the built‑in flashlight is surprisingly useful when you’re working in tight or dim spaces. The tester feels solid in the hand, responds instantly to live wires, and the buzzer/LED alerts are loud enough to notice without being obnoxious. I also appreciate the wide 12V–1000V range — it covers everything I need around the house and garage. Overall, it operates exactly as advertised and has already made electrical tasks much easier and much more safer [thats key]. Great value, great performance, and definitely worth having in your toolkit.

Handy tool to have when doing electrical work

This was on sale, & it was less than $10.00 which is a GREAT Price especially if you’re only using it once or twice. I tested this out in the house before I used it outside to fix some Christmas Lights. It easily picked up the 120v outlet, & by adjusting the sensitivity to a 3-4 I was able to test for hot wires through their insulation which was also very accurate. I do like the fact that it’s practically the size of a pen, & it has a tip on the end which fits into the outlet hot wire slot. If you need one of these for DIY, around the house projects? It’s awesome, but if I was on the job working as an electrician?? I would probably get one a little more sturdier & durable. Which is the only reason why it got 4 stars. If the casing was thicker, & better protected? It would’ve easily gotten 5 stars. Hope this helps-

This isn't the perfect product, but don't let this stop you from choosing this specific non-contact voltage detector. Like all such products (and there are MANY) it suffers from the same problems: at times too sensitive and at other times not sensitive enough. The reason is simple enough: these voltage detectors are based on the assumption that the person holding the detector in his hands is at ground potential (or close to it) and that doesn't always happen to be the case. Where this specific product stands out is that the sensitivity can be adjusted in 9 steps. This allows you to reduce the sensitivity in situations where there is so much energy in the area that the detector alerts even near non-conducting materials or at no object at all in mid-air. The multiple detection levels help to distinguish between weaker (possibly false positive) signals and stronger detection (likely to be an actual live circuit). I personally don't trust these voltage detectors to keep me safe when working on electrical circuit. The reason I bought this detector was for troubleshooting light strings and with its adjustable sensitivity and 3 level strength indication it does work reasonably well for that purpose (much, much better then voltage detectors that are not adjustable and only have a single alert level). I would not recommend it as a safety tool for a job site as it does appear fragile (lightweight plastic). Thrown into a bag of heavy tools it would probably not last very long. The reason I'm giving it 5 stars is for the sensitivity adjustment and multi-level alerting. I tested those features and they work very well for my intended purpose.

Anyone who has done electrical work knows it sucks to get shocked. Anyone who does electrical work probably also has guessed wrong about the wiring or circuitry at least once. I was on the fence about needing this tool, since I have a multimeter and routinely use it to check things before and during my work. But recently I was using this NCVT, and realized sometimes I'm wrong about which wire is live on a light switch, and a multimeter isn't as effective at telling you that. It's easy to identify live wires and cables, to tell if multiple circuits are involved in a junction box (maybe you didn't turn off the right breaker yet!) and it works for low voltage too, which is where I spend a lot of time, just adjust for low sensitivity or high sensitivity as needed. Overall, it's made a believer of me.

The Auroland Non-contact voltage tester is awful. It does look like the website image & comes with a battery. The user guide is complete crap. The font is so tiny, that not even a magnifying glass can make it readable. I had no idea font could be so small. It was a complete waste of money. I do not recommend purchasing anything from this seller if this is their idea of a helpful owner's guide.

The device is oversensitive even at lower sensitivity settings. For Both Null and Live it keeps on beeping and of low accuracy. Low quality product. Compared to another brand which I used earlier it is just a waste of money at the price range
