Very understanding
I liked this book because of the easy, readable explanation of the game. It is a review of game played years ago.

very helpful
Every new player should read this book. I only gave it four stars because there was a language barrier, and several words did not equate to English, and I wasn’t certain the meaning they were trying to get across.

Awful
This is one of the worst books I've ever read. Either it's been poorly translated from another language or the author missed some key lessons in grammar and punctuation in his English classes. Many sentences are actually just phrases. I struggled to understand their meaning. This is supposed to be Mah Jongg the "Easy Way?" I had to abandon it out of frustration.

This book gives a beginner easy to follow and understand directions. As a beginner I now understand the movements and strategy

Only OK --
Probably a thorough account of the rules, but the English wording seems as if it is a translation from the authors native language. Sometimes difficult to follow.

This was a gift but seems ok

Shoddy, careless, poor work
English very poor, and even with that reservation the book could have been rescued to some extent by the author bothering to do a read-through before publishing. Poorly described, little sense of structure. If a student presented something like this to me I'd fail it. Buy someone who took some trouble over their work.

Barely in English
The book tries to explain the rules for American mah jonng, but fails because of its poor English. It's fairly infuriating that the author uses dice and dices for the singular and plural respectively of die and dice, but there is worse. Explanations are inadequate, and the scoring page would take a genius to interpret.

No help for playing Brirish rules
I did not know this was about the American game, my suits are called circles or, bamboos and characters.I first played in Japan but now play in Great Britain. The American rules are very different with suits called dots, barns and cracks for starters. "How to play Mah Jong the easy way can only be confusing for the international and British player. At age 87 I have no wish to learn the American set of rules.

does not cover the basics to help REAL beginners
Still misses the point of helping beginners

Poor grammar.
This book is strewn with poor grammar in the Charley Chan vein. This starts with the title and never stops. Disrespectful to people of Chineese heritage and wrong. I hope that is called from other manuals and not an attempt at humour.

Don't bother with this book.
Very disappointing - the writing leaves a lot to be desired and the photos are very amateur. The whole book looks as if it's never seen an editor or a proof reader.
