RIDGIDVF4000 Standard Filter for Wet/Dry Vac

I have a 12 gallon Ridgid blower/wet/dry shop vac. This filter was a perfect fit replacement. Quick shipping too. The box the filter came in also showed all the other available filters with the part number, this was very useful. I added a picture of it in case you've been looking for the specific filter for your Ridgid shopvac. These fit the 5-20 gallon vacs. A little pricey for a filter but they tend to last a while. I recently ordered the Hepa and wet filter now that I had the part numbers. As far as quality, I'm impressed. They seem very rugged as far as filters go. I received the wet filter today and it's just as good of quality. Hope this helps.

UPDATE 1 April 2014:I went to reorder this filter and found that the price had increased by 48% in the 18 months since I last purchased it. I ordered it anyway and received an actual VF4000 filter made by Rigid. The first time I ordered, I received an non-OEM filter (see original review below) supplied by GoVacuum. This time, the filter was supplied by Central Vacuum. I guess there's a 48% premium for an actual Rigid filter, but to be honest, the aftermarket filter worked as well as the OEM.ORIGINAL REVIEW:My 6 gallon Rigid shop vac says it takes VF4000, VF5000 or VF6000 filters. Amazon claims that this one is a "Rigid VF4000 Standard Filter for WetDry Vac, by Rigid". Pretty clear, right? You're going to get a filter made by the company that made the vacuum. Not so fast... What Amazon actually ships is a filter made by Green Klean, "Designed as a Replacement for VF 4000". A note on the box says: "This is not a product, nor is it sponsored or endorsed by RIGID, Inc."The filter does fit my Rigid shop vac, and it seems to work. Time will tell if it will last as long as the original Rigid filters. I am not happy with Amazon for their misleading product description. I might have bought the filter if they had described it accurately, but I would like the ability to make an informed decision about it.

This item appears to be an OEM product, based on the box it came in and the appearance of the item itself. Installation was a little tight, but I carefully pushed and pulled all the way around the rubber gasket with my fingers (I don't recommend using any tool that might damage the gasket) as I kept a gentle pressure on the cylinder, and just when I was about to give up and put it back in the box ... the gasket slipped over the lip and the filter was in place. So patience and care while installing the filter is a necessity. On the the other hand, the tight fit makes for a good seal between the filter and the underside of the vacuum's top, so that's a good thing. Then just screw on the retainer nut (you did keep that when you removed the old filter, didn't you?), and you're good to go.

All I really needed was the cap. But the cap I ordered turned out to be too small. They did not give measurements on line. This version of the filter includes the cap. I would have given it five stars but I have no idea how to measure the suction and the foam cover that came with it was too short. It leaves about two inches of the filter exposed. But hay the original filter was all exposed.

This is false advertising plain and simple. The part might fit in some fashion but it IS NOT a Rigid part and the item pictured is NOT the item you get. The Rigid part, as pictured, is secured onto the center retainer pin. The part you get fits by squeezing around it's base onto the motor housing.How functional the part is, is not as important as the purchaser choosing, and paying for a part which is either genuine or a knock off. A given purchaser will not pay as much for a knockoff and this is just a scheme to get purchasers to pay more than they otherwise would if they were fully informed.The Uniform Commercial Code requires that purchasers be truthfully informed of the transaction so they may then decide what price to pay. It appears that if Amazon does not correct the practice as described above, then Amazon may be subject to criminal sanctions.

Does everything it claims and fits well but for my money this one is WAY overpriced for a basic paper filter. The Mfg. is making a killing on something that should be priced about 1/2 to 2/3 of the listing .... but they about the only game in town so we're stuck with them ....

I have a 2.6hp Rigid from the late 90's and this filter fit perfectly. It gives you instructions on how to install on older units. Very handy. Will buy again when needed.

Purchased this as a Ridgid replacement filter for my Ridgid shop vac. Other reviewers commented that it was not as advertised and not a Ridgid product. But, in my case it was exactly as advertised and WAS for Ridgid. Fit right on to my vac and the carton was marked a Ridgid.Was pleased with the construction and the fabric seems sturdy enough for this type use. Works great in my vac so far. It actually appears to be better than the previous Ridgid filter I bought at Home Depot. I am happy and do recommend this unit.
