What can I say? Tennyson! And Penguin!
Penguin does, in my opinion, the best releases for aesthetic covers, presentation and font choices, that really give you the best atmosphere to absorb the poetry. If I’m not buying Penguin, it’s because I can’t find one.

Old Book is New to Me!
I received this product used. The cover and pages definitely looked used. The pages were all intact, just a little rumpled. But I could read it fine! My heart lept when I read the Lady of Shallot! My heart did not mind the well-worn pages where this book was previously loved!

The poet of the ear
Like Milton, Tennyson produces musical poetry. Read him out loud and you will be treated to a delight.

an indispensable source for those interested in modern English poetry
I became interested in this material when seeing Tennyson referenced in the opening scene of Anne of Green Gables - very happy to have this among my home resources.

Fine Collection
I thought this a wonderful collection and I still go back to it on occasion. It's Tennyson, and Penguin is ever the reliable publisher.

Great compilation
Has In Memoriam A.H.H. about Tennyson's friend in it, which is long. All the famous ones are in here and some lesser known gems as well.

This copy was in excellent condition and well worth having
Bought it as a gift. It did not suit the recipient who really wanted the old (1930s) Penguin edition. This copy was in excellent condition and well worth having. Some useful notes and other information.

Fascinating Introduction.
Editor Christopher Ricks (Boston, Cambridge) provides a fascinating introduction, stressing Tennyson’s progress, personally and artistically, via “second chances”. He responds to many of his early poems with “answer” verse - “The Merman” / “The Mermaid”, “Song - The Owl” / “Second Song - To the Same”, “Mariana” / “Mariana in the South”, and many others. And of course like many other great poets he endlessly revised his poetry, again looking for “second chances”. It’s always a treat when editors’ introductions provides arguments, rather than simple biographical overviews. This volume is a comprehensive selection, and with “Maud” and “In Memoriam” printed in full, this is an excellent place to start if you wish to explore this supremely talented poet.
