Art of Olivia (v. 1) (Let Them Eat Cheesecake)

I've had this volume in my collection for years – I bought it when researching a project on pin-up art; it's a lovely book.Olivia De Bernardinis is one of the best-known contemporary pin-up artists – apparently a favourite of Ditta Von Teese; I find her graphic style a little hard-edged, but she's a fine draughtsman and her handling of traditional graphic materials is exceptional – I admire her work greatly.She's clearly influenced by Vargas both in style and attitude, though she displays a thorough knowledge of the genre.This well-presented hardback book showcases over 100 drawings and paintings, nearly all the works are presented full-page and the vast majority are in full-colour.Texts are sparse, but there is a very good listing of all the works in the book provided in the back pages with notes on medium, model, etc.A must for anyone interested in pin-up art or good graphic illustration work.

Well up to scratch and the standards set by Alberto Vargas.
