This book is packed with information and photos but written in a very digestible way. High resolution color images along side simple but informative description. If you think you might like this book. You will love it.

Short and sweet. Some of the science was a bit over my head and my head swirls when I try to remember latin scientific names. But overall, I really enjoyed this book. The text is clear. The images are great. And the "how to" is useful. My teens and I are headed to the forest next weekend to see if we can find some of the fungi mentioned in the book. We're going to try our hand at spalting. I appreciate, too, that the book isn't written by another white male in his 50's or beyond, like so many other woodworking books. I love the diversity and inclusiveness of the language, (e.g. "they"), in the book. A month ago I wasn't aware that people intentionally tried to spalt wood and now I'm going to give it a try, in part, thanks to this book. p.s. Before anyone gets up in arms, I'm a white, straight male in his 60's. I own eight woodworking books and I hadn't noticed until yesterday that this is the first book in my collection written by someone out of the older white male demographic.

It's about a special knowledge, from the past. It's all well presented in the book.

If you're a fan of spalted wood, or just curious about it, you will probably enjoy this book. You will certainly learn from it.The author takes a scientific approach to a subject that has been shrouded in mystery and myth for centuries. And does a good job making the most recent scientific understandings approachable to the casual woodworker.

very well written succinct book. I've got 11 ambrosia blanks waiting to test these methods on. The book provides all the steps to spalting at home.

Dr.Seri Robinson is one of the best if you want to learn about spalted wood and the fungus needed for different species highly recommend this book!

An excellent guide to various ways to spalt wood including uncontrolled to controlled (Lab). The book arrived in great condition as promised.
