A quality product despite the software limitations
For adding 2 extra, upto 4K monitors to a system with maxed out connections to the internal video card this is a reasonable solution. The build quality is good, doesn't need additional power, and can drive 4K monitors. The main problem is not the device but the DisplayLink technology. 1) It requires drivers. 2) Those drivers are closed source. 3) The CPU usage can be very high at times. Even on a modern systems the USB overhead can cause the system to feel sluggish and even when otherwise "idle" consumes a decent amount of CPU. This all said... if you need a couple more monitors (Linux was my OS using this with) and don't have the ability to add a traditional graphics card then this is a decent solution.

4k60 works on USB 3.0 ports! Saved me from buying a new laptop!
My laptop lacked a display port that could drive 4k60 on my monitor and I had to settle for the HDMI port which delivered 4k30, which translated to a poor user experience with my new 4K monitor. Came across this cable and ordered it with a little apprehension as it was quite expensive. Thankfully, the little thing works like a charm, driving 4k60 on my monitor from the USB port on my laptop. One thing to note is that the experience differs when I connect the device to a plain USB port vs one marked as USB SS(SuperSpeed). The USB SS port gives a better experience with almost no lag or stuttering while the unmarked USB port has a bit of lag in showing UI animations and during video playback. This is quite expected as USB SS has the bandwidth to push out those pixels. Although my laptop does not have USB 3.1, the adapted works well with USB 3.0 ports. This literally saved me from buying a new laptop - if this didn't work, I had made up my mind to trade my laptop for one with a display port 1.2 connector that could drive 4k60. Btw, I have a lenovo ideapad700.The only negative I can think of is that the part where we connect the Display Port cable gets a little warm to touch. Hope it won't break the functionality in the long run!Note that this thing works fine for things that don't require instantaneous response ..stuff like word, browsing the web, editing photos, etc are all fine. Gaming may not really work well but I don't think it's wise to game at 4k60 anyways ;-)

I bought this adapter to use with my 2 Dell U2720Q monitors, since my work-supplied laptop does not have DP/TB3 out. As the manufacturer states, this adapter is NOT suitable for gaming or any other task that involves fast movement on the screen, but for software development on 4k monitors, it does the job well.

Black-outs are too frequent + Night light not supported
Night light from Windows is not supported. Checked all the troubleshooting steps and ended up adding a key in regedit.msc but it still does not work. If you need night light, you would have to change the settings of your monitor. So at least there is a workaround.The other issue is that when my laptop turns off the screen after a timeout and then comes back on, the monitor with the displayLink hooked up will black out randomly. The fix for this is to unplug and re-plug the displayLink then it will be okay.Overall, decent product; does the job.Note: Using this product for a single 1440p @ 144HzEdit: Black-outs are too frequent; it happens randomlyEdit#2: Seems like changing the refresh rate back-and-forth solves the frequent black-outs. It may be temporary but at least it is something

Worked.
Have a work-supplied MacBook Pro that only supported one external display. This did the trick.
