An important story, but also a fun read
A wonderful book everyone should read. It’s an eye opener into the world of intellectual disabilities and also the story of a loving family and their amazing son. It’s the story of being dealt a tough hand, but then taking it and running with it - and eventually for David – the sky’s the limit. David tells his story with great honesty – the struggles, the successes and the laughs. He teaches us lessons along the way – showing us that to really grow, we have to accept that sometimes we’ll have failures. It is a thrill to read his story and see him develop over the years and by the end you’ll be cheering when he takes the opening stage in LA to welcome 6200 athletes in addition to thousands of their family members and supporters at the Special Olympic World Games. Reflecting after reading this book, we are all differently abled in some way, and we should be on the lookout for opportunities to understand these differences and use them to make work places, and the world a better place.

A Very Proud Owner of an Extraordinary Book
David was profiled in my own book -- Firestarters: How Innovators, Instigators, and Initiators Can Inspire You to Ignite Your Own Life. He is a true Firestarter! David then went on to write his own book with his mother, Kathleen. What an accomplishment! The book is powerful, touching, and eye-opening. I plan on giving copies of this book during the holiday season because what David shares is a story that will inspire everyone and make us all understand that miracles happen through love, inclusiveness, and persistence.

More Alike Than Different by David Egan is an absolutely excellent book and a window into his world. With great eloquence he shares his life and his experiences. David is an inspiration; he never lets an obstacle deter him. I have had the privilege of hearing David speak at a Special Olympics Conference in Seattle. This a MUST READ for every parent
What a great read. First, this is a great funny and witty book that you just can't put down. The story is inspiring on so many levels because David tells it as it is! It is not easy making decisions for your children, especially if they have special needs. I think this is a MUST READ for every parent or guardian who has a child that is struggling with a disability. It's a true eye-opener and shows how disabilities don't define our children and there is no reason why they can't help reaching their maximum potential. I absolutely loved this story.
