EXCELLENT book for a beginner!!
EXCELLENT book for a beginner!! I am very new to origami but I decided I just HAD to make the 6-pointed star on the cover of the book. This is the last project in the book (there are 12 projects), and I think it was meant to be the most difficult. It was my first dollar bill folding adventure so I used fake bills from a kit for the first attempt. I had to flip back and forth so I could understand how to make the rabbit ear, but once I did, I was successful! A very exciting feeling!! (I put a small sticky note on the rabbit ear instruction page as well as on the star instruction page to make it easy to flip back and forth as needed). I usually give up on origami instruction books and watch Youtube videos instead, but this book was so well written and illustrated, that I think almost anyone could be successful, too.Even after making 6 identical pieces for the 6-pointed star, I still had to refer to the instructions in order to make the star so don't be discouraged. I found that after making several of the identical pieces I could memorize a few steps here and a couple of steps there but never the entire series of instructions. You would not believe the impression this star makes!! Everyone who sees it just goes crazy! I think it's because they are looking at such an everyday item as a dollar bill and seeing 6 of them being converted into an artistic masterpiece (am I being self-aggrandizing or what?!?) Note: ----- I had to glue it together, otherwise it would come apart and people wouldn't be so impressed. However, I'm sure waitstaff would not want to receive a glued-together origami tip!! lolI want to make more of these 6-pointed stars so I just purchased some "Uncle Sam Wants You" fake bills and even some "Felix the Cat" fake bills on Ebay. I recommend that you always use fake bills the first time you make a money tip to reduce frustration if you have to refold the bill(s) due to misreading the instructions. You don't want real dollar bills to end up being all wrinkled. And that's another thing ---- I always go to the bank and get crisp unused one dollar bills to make the tips. It makes the finished product look so much nicer. What a great book! I highly recommend it.

Folding Fun
I have all three money folding origami books by Arnold Tubis and this book is a good starter for learning basic to intermediate folds with an introduction to modular origami.Pros:- Good models with minimal and clear instructions.- Helps you appreciate the symmetry of geometric angles.- Nice end result picture.Cons:- Cosmetic preferences that do not apply to content.- For example, I prefer pictures of dollars vs model diagrams.- However, it did not stop me from completing each project.Whether you use this book for tipping or learning how to do a better squash fold or rabbit ear fold, this is an affordable and reasonable purchase.Bottom line: I had fun folding dollar bills into his designs.

Almost 5 stars. Mountain/Valley fold was a little confusing
This was SUCH a fun book I really would have given it 5 stars if the whole mountain fold, valley fold wasn’t so confusing. There are 12 different origamis and by 9-10 I figured it out what those meant. Loved the book. So fun!! Great for a beginner.

Too much GREEN (not the good kind!) and not enough help.
I'm not an experienced origamist but I've seen several sites with instructions, etc. This book's main flaw is the color choice for the inside pages, which, unfortunately, are not shown on the preview. In the instructions, the illustrated "money" is solid green, a shade different than the page background color, which is also solid green. There is a slight difference in the shades of green which differentiate between front and back of the dollar bills, but no artwork to represent the graphics found on the actual bill, except in the picture of the finished project. This makes keeping track of the folds much harder than it should be, particularly when one needs to skip back and forth between the project page and the instructions for certain folds which are at the beginning of the book. I also found the instructions themselves not as helpful as I would have liked. The book is in my recycling bin, and I'll stick to online sites for origami.

Fun book, clear and very concise
This is a really fun introduction to origami, which I had never done before. I had a bit of trouble getting the rabbit ear and squash to come out right, but after that it was smooth and fun sailing. The instructions and diagrams are very clear and concise. So far I've completed the first half of the models and am looking forward to doing the rest. Here's a photo of my $2 Tip #1, using a real bill, and a fake one.
