Great picture and sound quality
I bought this at the beginning of the pandemic when we all started working from home. I keep my laptop on an upper shelf with a big monitor below it and let’s just say the laptop camera angle was unflattering. This seemed to be fairly popular with few low-star reviews, a decent price, and it was in stock. The cable has been plenty long which has been helpful when I had to do remote training on some machinery and needed to get a close inside view. I have the best video on the Zoom calls for my entire department. I can’t judge the audio remotely but I have been told it’s clean and clear. I don’t regret this purchase at all and would recommend it without hesitation to anyone that asked.

A Good But Not Great Camera
The reviews informing about pixelation is true, especially around the edges of your head and face. If you're needing a webcam to be super professional, well...don't be cheap, lol! You get what you pay for, we all know this :) For myself, it works a thousand times better than my laptop camera so I'm pretty satisfied. There's no lag, it has a wider view than my last camera (which kind of works to my benefit to show my background isn't as barren as it appeared on the laptop camera at first. Probably should still hang something up...), and was easy to set up. I plugged mine into the Uni USB to ethernet device that has 3 extra USB ports and it instantly gave a notification on my computer that it was getting the camera set up. Maybe two minutes later, if that, it was finished. I signed into my work Zoom account to play with the camera and without even needing to tell it to stop using my laptop's camera, this one instantly came on, I didn't need to do anything extra in my settings (and this computer is from about 2014, second hand, and is lacking an internal drive to even have the space for updates for Windows, so if it worked for me, it should easily work for everyone else.I also really appreciate that the power light is just a tiny prick of red. My laptop light was white and thrice as bright, meaning as you stared into the camera, you stared into the light (and it stared into your soul...wait, what?). This light is much easier on the eyes and less distracting to your peripheral vision. So at the end of the day, this camera will definitely work for me much better when meeting with clients but does lose a star for the pixelation.

Pain to connect at first, BUT...
I should preface this with the fact that I know absolutely nothing about the whole camera notion. But son needed to have one for school and this is highly-rated, "plug n play," should be easy, right?First off, the box doesn't have full instructions, only how to clip it to the top of your computer (and it tells you in about eight different languages). Go to the website, "Quick Installation Guide" and "User Manual" are unavailable. So going off the "plug n play" theory, I plug...no play. I tried the driver-related issue suggestion, checked that I had the "camera allowed" option on, tried the USB ports on my screen and computer...still nothing. The PC wasn't seeing a camera and neither was the Zoom meeting I was trying to get to (oh and btw, apparently you have to be in the meeting before you'll see yourself on camera). Then I remembered I had a portable hub with additional ports...IT WORKED!!! Oh Happy Day. Picture is great and so clear, I had to remove some books from the bookshelf for a G-rating. I would also love to mention that Wansview Customer Support is AMAZING. Melody not only checked in with me when I implored her to have a non-techie write their instructions, she checked back again to make sure I was still satisfied. Definitely would recommend. XO

It's okay: Purple reflections across your face and wide screen distortions
I got this camera because I couldn't get a Logitech for a reasonable price, thanks COVID! This is a okay-private-label-generic-webcam-from-china but don't think you found a needle in a hay stack though. Quality is okay but not great. I do think I will keep this cam, I need a couple cams but it will be the relegated to more low quality uses.Pros: - Lower price then many other private-label-generic-webcam-from-china (at least when I bought it) - Available in July 2020 at near normal prices - Plug and Play with Windows - Image has low noiseNeutral: - Microphone is okay: not horrible or unusable, but not great. - Okay frame rate in WindowsCons: - Purple Streaks/reflections/highlights across your face - In general the camera feels like it has a light Purples/Red filter to the image - It seems wide angle so straight lines to the naked eye appear curved or bowed on cameraFor Linux folks I briefly plugged it in to my Pop OS 20.04 LTS laptop (Pop is an Ubuntu/Debian derivative) to see what would happen. It kind of worked, in 1080p capture you could only display at 5 fps, if you turn down the resolution it gets a better frame rate. I am sure with some tinkering you may make it work better though Pop is usually really good about working good with various hardware without much fuss. Conclusion:If you need an okay camera that in 70% of cases is better then the built in laptop webcam, you are not a stickler for quality and you want something on the cheap and available during COVID this is not a bad choice. If you want good quality, top notch mic keep looking.Good luck if you can find a Logitech in these COVID days for less then twice the pre-COVID price if at all.
