The Secret to Tender Pie: America's Grandmothers Share Their Favorite Recipes Hardcover – Import, January 1, 1997

I loved cooking with my grandmother, her recipe card box got thrown out after she passed away so the idea of this book to me was wonderful! I got a copy for my friend who grew up with no grandparents, she needed this book too. This book is for anyone who loves the little stories that go along with recipes, I loved the photos that went with each one!

This is a wonderful book full of lovely recipes from grandmothers all around the country. You won't be sorry!

As you can see from the previous review, this book has many recipes and the majority have nothing to do with PIE. I, personally, think the book title was ill-chosen and not representative of the contents of the book.

My sister told me about this book years ago, and I always re-read it (sorry Amazon, I get it out of the library) ~ to me, the best part is reading the little vignettes written by each of the women who have contributed recipes. It always makes me ponder the fact that every person has a story, and most of them are interesting. My absolute favorite is the author of the brownies recipe who tells of a house fire. This book is so heartwarming, and has some great recipes, too. Highly recommended; I bet you'll love it!
