The last Optima Red Top battery I bought lasted me 10 years and I was very upset when it was "accidentally" traded in with a vehicle it wasn't supposed to be in. If that hadn't happened maybe it could have still been going I don't know... MAYBE IT STILL IS !!!!! I'm going to be completely honest here, when the DieHard I had in my pickup AS THE REPLACEMENT FOR MY RED TOP THE DIEHARD DIED VERY EASILY as in LESS THAN 3 YEARS. What absolute junk AND it was nearly $200.00 !!!!! If I can stress anything here PLEASE DO NOT BUY A CHEAP BATTERY. You always get what you pay for, I bought junk I got junk don't make my mistake. I will take a KILLER battery and cheap jumper cables ANY DAY over a cheap battery and a expensive jump box. ANY DAY.

I ordered this battery (34/78 Red Top) for use in my '66 Ford Bronco. I needed a battery with more ooomph than a standard battery. The battery was extremely well packaged for shipment. There was more than enough protection to prevent the battery from being damaged. The battery was charged up. It comes with a top plate, though I did not need it for my application. The price on the battery was excellent, though it's likely due to a couple of considerations. First, the battery is covered by a warranty. However, it's going to be more complicated to handle it than if you purchase it from a local dealer. Warranty on the battery involves shipping and waiting. That is not likely a good option for someone using their vehicle on a daily basis. On a part-time vehicle, that won't be a problem. And then there is the hassle of disposing of the failed battery which you are replacing. So plan on a trip to your local hazardous waste recycling facility. Or at least to a nearby auto parts dealer - hoping they will just take it off of your hands. After installation, my Bronco started right up. It's been a couple of months now, and no problems or hiccups. But with all batteries, the real test is time. I am hoping to get several years of service out of this battery. Shipping was faster than they indicated, though not 2-day Prime. Overall, a good purchase on an accurately described item. Note: The price of the battery varies considerably. I chose the lower priced battery with a slightly extended shipping time.

This thing is a total dog compared to walmart batteries for 1/3 the price. The reserve capacity is terrible, the CCA is only 800 - yet I wanted something to last. With that said - I am not happy. I thought "hey buy the best of the best and you'll finally be happy." This is not the case. An $80 walmart battery outperforms this battery in nearly every aspect. I am within my return period and I am literally seconds away from returning it. I could buy 3 walmart batteries and put them in parallel/series and see some serious business for the same price. I have some parasitic drain and my 2 year old no-name battery usually takes a week or two to run flat. This thing dies overnight. Additionally, the cheap no name battery does 950cca easily - where this POS only does 800. This company at this point is literally scamming people on name alone. There are BETTER batteries for MUCH LESS. My only saving grace IF I KEEP THIS BATTERY is that it will last for way longer. But with the results I've gotten in the past couple days I would not trust that or invest this way. I could buy a new BETTER battery every couple years and have a better outcome. This thing would have to last over a decade to be worth it. But with my current results I am not convinced the reduced performance and lackluster results are boding well for this battery. Frankly, I will most likely return this thing within the week. Be a smart person!!! If you're looking for output - there are better batteries for WAY LESS. If you're looking for capacity there are better batteries FOR WAY LESS. If you're looking for longevity - for the same price you could just buy several of the other better (and cheaper) batteries over time FOR WAY LESS. This thing is an utter disappointment overall. I regret buying it and having a hint of red under the hood is not enough to justify the cost. In conclusion if you want the name, or flare of color under the hood at any expense - get this. Essentially, "I want red in my engine bay." If you care about performance, capacity, or frugality THIS IS NOT YOUR BATTERY. DO NOT BUY THIS. This company is literally running on scams.

Battery is amazing, Amazon however put optima factory box upside down on a Amazon box so battery spent entire trip upside down damaging battery

While I’ve always been a fan of Optima batteries, this Red Top is my first slightly negative experience. Potentially just an old stock item, or quality control issue. They have always come fully charged and ready to roll. I have an Optima battery charger that has been great. I installed this battery in my truck and my digital volt meter read 10.9-11.1 out of the box. Hooked charger up and it was 50-75% charged It’s charging now but that is not a good look.
