Vampires: Brighter in Darkness tells the sexy tale of Toby Brighter, a cute young Englishman, who after a disastrous relationship, is set up on a blind date by his sister Charlotte. Toby's date, Lucas Delmore, is charming, charismatic, and physically flawless. He is everything Toby could have wished for except the fact that Lucas is a 1500 year old Vampire. Before long, Toby is plunged into the dark world of demons, black magic and the supernatural, where nobody is safe and nothing is what it seems.

Great looking guys and interesting story.
I really enjoyed the storyline in his movie. The second movie in his series is great also, please I wish they would make the third and final movie in his series. Good plot, some humor, numerous sub plots within movie, ex-loves etc. I have already watched more than once.

Whats more imortant to you, story or Hollywood?
If you're looking for The Fault in Our Stars or Bram Stokers Dracula, then keep looking, but if you want a charming tale of gay vampire love then this is for you. This is a great non-budget film done by a newbie film maker, in what started as a TV serial and was cut down to make a movie. It smacks of potential, a solid story, fair acting from newly trained and probably unpaid actors. The CGI can be a little forced and perhaps some could have been better executed with physical props. (Jaws vs Sharknado) I reminds me of my high school and college drama days. But this group has done wonders with what they had! Good job guys!

Vampire Drama Should Be Skipped!
I was excited initially about this film featuring a homoerotic and fast-paced spin on the vampire drama, but I was left entirely disappointed with this terribly acted film. The acting is beyond egregious. The cinematography needs much improvement and everything with how the actors interacted with each other seemed woefully contrived and not as believable as one would imagine. This gay-oriented film did have a couple of sexually provocative scenes that were memorable, but this film was mostly amateurish, horribly acted, and forgettable. It's certainly a vampire drama that should be skipped.

When was this done? 1950?
I can't believe how fake the FX is. The story is weak at best. The gay sex consists of them drinking each other's blood and the actual filmography is like a film left in the vault for 72 years, with the colors all faded and blury. The only reason to give it a 3 is the men are all beautiful and well built, and some of the acting is well done. Albeit without a director I assume, because the timing is dreadful.. what a mess.

It's an enjoyable film without being necessarily a good film. Except for Rhys Howells as Lucas
It's an enjoyable film without being necessarily a good film. Except for Rhys Howells as Lucas, who is charismatic and compelling, the acting is poor to passable (and some is quite laughable). The "special effects" are cheap, but they are cleverly done. The script is smart, the gay love story is intriguing, and the direction is crisp. Obviously the production was working with a microbudget, but they came up with something that is sometimes silly, sometimes a little boring, but nearly always entertaining. And Rhys Howells is definitely an actor to watch for.

Great movie!
Great movie !!! A gay love story where the main characters are vampires and the good guys. Where do you ever see that? the story is good and well told although there are a few places that seem to need an explanation. If you watch the director's commentary they explain that this was originally a mini series on British TV and they had to cut over two hours out to make it into a film or it would have been over four hours long. I for one would love to see the original series I wish it were available to watch here in the states. The special effects are not Star wars, they only had a twenty thousand dollar budget. Don't get hung up on that. It's a good watch if you love vampires

Cheesy special special effects but a great love story
This is a interesting take on vampire falls in love with the human. The character of Lucas made this movie. Lucas finds his soul mate in Toby. Of course there are obstacles that get in their way. The goddess Lilith is trying to get rid of mankind and Toby's ex, Paul, just won't take the hint that it's over. There are some laughable scenes. The interaction between the two main characters was intense and sweet at times. The movie ends in a cliffhanger but the second film ends it all nicely. This is a guilty pleasure film.

Fun and satisfying.
I gave this five stars because this movie is a lot of fun and you can tell a lot of love went into it. The sequel to it is even better. It's a low budget movie and it had to make do with what it had but I think the person who did this has a lot of talent and could do wonders with a better budget. It reminds me of some of the low budget work Peter Jackson did before he went on to do Lord of the Rings. I felt satisfied watching it.

Vampires: Looking to a Brighter Future!!!
In a world dominated by Hollywood re-makes, or films that splash out millions and flop (i.e. John Carter), 'Vampires: Brighter in Darkness' offers any up and coming script writer, director or actor some encouragement that hard work and belief pays off. This film had a budget that probably wouldn't even cover 10% of some of Hollywoods top actors wages when taking on a extra's role, but that is no reason to knock it. Given what director and writer Jason Davitt was given to work with, he has made a fantastic stab at something that will no doubt be the start of something great.People are to quick to expect great things, but if they were to think of how much time and effort goes into creating independant films, when you don't have the resources availiable that Hollywood films have, you'd be able to appreciate independant films more. The only criticisim of the film is that it is, at times, rather slow pacing, and it is sometimes visibly clear that it is low budget, but in the films defence, it was originally made as an internet web series, before being made into a film. Some of the actors in it haven't had as much training as they'd like, but the story and the characters involved are all believable, and thus making for an interesting viewing. If you watch the film with the directors commentry, then you will begin to understand how hard it can be for films to be made.Jason Davitt will no doubt be a name to remember, and considering he did almost all the work for the film (i.e. writing it, directing it, filming it, editing it etc, just check out the credits for yourself), then you wouldn't be able to believe the kind of things he'll be able to do a bit of help.Vampires: Brighter in Darkness is only the beginning.... so watch this space!

Trash
I have to admit I did not expect a lot, and bought the DVD because of the Picture. The film itself is just one of the worst b or c movies I have ever seen. There is not even enough erotic in there to make the film at least good wanking material. Would I suggest to buy it? Certainly not.
