This is not an expensive umbrella so I don't know what people are expecting for the price. It is also meant to be a compact umbrella, so I think a lot of the reviews lose sight of that. As far as the smell I would call it more of a scent. Mine smelled like strawberries 🍓 and I love it. The scent is like strawberry shortcake dolls.It's adorable and perfect for walking in the Sun or the rain. I open it carefully and close it carefully and keep it in a safe spot until I need it. It's a great little umbrella

Nice to put in the side pocket of a tote.

It’s small enough that I can easily carry it around in my bag as a ‘just in case’ umbrella, but surprisingly, it has a fairly large open area. (An umbrella wingspan, if you will.)The handle’s a good size, and it opens/closes easily. Best of all, it doesn’t feel like it’s going to break at the slightest breeze. (Plus, the pattern is adorable.)

My Daughter and I Love this umbrella... I was worried it would look sort of cheap.. but it does not! It looks so elegant , the color is way better than the pics. It seems durable so far and is a good size.
