Luke Jensen action packed!
Luke Jensen is a man who gets his man and the job done! While he awaits payment for bringing in the latest villain, the bank gets robbed. Once again, Luke sets out to track down those responsible to get his pay but also to help the town recoup their loss. When he hits the trail, Luke never knows when he will be returning or if he will be returning. The trail he follows can get long, and he finds a couple more victims of Gunner Kelly and Dog Eater. He also gets undesired help from a young orphan boy who wants to emulate Luke and do more than muck stalls.Throughout the novel, people will enjoy the way one man can help a town get backbone to fight lawlessness. Luke’s tracking skills are good even when the trail is cold, and he ends up in more fights unrelated to finding his prey. But when he does locate Gunner and Dog Eater, he is about to get the surprise of his life as things aren’t always what they seem!Dead Shot is the second book in the Luke Jensen Bounty Hunter series by the Johnstone authors. I started with the first book, Luke Jensen, Bounty Hunter, which gives a lot of the character’s background. When I first began reading Johnstone books, I didn’t read some of them in order, this series included. Now that I have a bigger collection, it is enjoyable to read the novels in order. If you like action, mystery, thrills, and romance, you might want to visit the authors’ website to see all the many novels just waiting to be enjoyed!

Luke Jensen will do ta ride with!
Unlike some earlier Jensen stories, Luke is not an unbeatable hero. Instead Luke has sand, learned some skill, and knows what needs doin'. One who thinks.

Captures the feeling of the old west.
It was pleasure to read the story of an ethical bounty hunter. Luke has many adventures in New Mexico and even old Mexico while seeking the evil men for a bounty. Johnson's writing clearly describes what it must have been like in the old days out West. The author lets us know it certainly was not as comfortable a life we live today but most of the people just accepted life as it was...no serious complains about daily living. If you want an excellent western, read this one.

ALWAYS PREPARED
Luke Jensen chasing two wanted men whose moral compass was nonexistent..Personally, I don't think they even had miniscule of humanity for their fellow man. Gunner Kelly and Dog Eater were known all over Texas for their scandalous behavior and ruthless attitude toward the law. There was a five thousand dollar bounty on them. They robbed a bank and murdered the owner, the widow put a another five thousand dollar bounty on the two. Big money 💰💰that Luke Jensen looked forward to earn. He might take a trip to San Francisco, his favorite city on the West coast.Luke Jensen is like all the Jensens, they are fearless and accept what they have to do which is take care of business. So we'll say ride easy Luke Jensen, enjoy a nice hot cup of Arbuckle grind and your favorite author and but don't sit to close to your campfire, ya never know whose watching!!!!Paz Amigos 🍺

I highly recommend this cleanly written series for any western reader...
Bounty hunter, Luke Jensen is on the trail of Monroe Epps. From robberies in New Mexico Territory & West Texas, Epps isn't going to give up without a fight. After killing a Texas Ranger & an El Paso City policeman, Texas wants Monroe Epps bad enough to post a $5,000 reward which is enticement enough to prompt Luke to bring him in.This is another excellent representation of what writer William W. Johnstone brings to the western table. Fans of this Jensen series will not be disappointed. I'm looking forward to the next one which I am sure will be just as heart pounding & packed with the excitement of the hunt as the first two of this series. So, I'll continue to ride with Luke Jensen & cheer him on as he follows the trails to the next bad man of his choosing. I'll be looking over his shoulder at the wanted posters trying to figure out who his next target will be.Cleanly written with the excitement all of the Johnstone books seem to offer.

Fast Moving Action
A well written book that began as one event but was interrupted by other events that caused me to wonder if the original intent would be realized. The immediate circumstances were fast moving and the original quest was finally met.

Yet Another Winner...
Luke Jensen delivers a bounty to the small town of Rio Rojo and is waiting on confirmation of his five thousand dollar reward when the bank is hit, cleaned out, by a pair of outlaws he recognizes as Gunner Kelly and his Apache partner, Dog Eater. He can't collect his reward unless he goes after it and they have money on their heads as well. And the owner of the bank offers Luke an extra five thousand to bring them back dead. And the money of course.Luke ends up being followed by a wet behind the ears kid, Hobie McCullough, who wants to be a bounty hunter. Most of his time is spent trying to keep the kid alive, though he's obligated because the kid did save his life. The pair go through a series of adventures involving outlaw Mexican Rurales, a beautiful young redhead, with which Hobie becomes smitten, pursued by an outlaw gang, in running battles before his final confrontation.Liked this one and have an idea who the J. A. Johnstone is this time around.
