Dreaming of Verona: An enchanting, feel-good holiday romance

A stunner!!!
You know when you watch the programme Qi with Stephen Fry and you immediately feel more inspired and knowledgeable and just in a bit of a positive tizz? I think TA Williams is my top author for making me sit forward, eyebrows raised, and wanting to absolutely ingest every single word whilst handing me a few points for the IQ!!!! I was already excited enough to be back in Italy (in the book sense, although we were lucky enough to visit two years ago) but then to be catapulted into the world of wealth that is the Tedburns while there left me in no doubt I'd be experiencing some special scenes. And we did. Although the story, that of Suzie who was assigned to mind a twenty something year old Alex was brilliant and kept me both intrigued and livid (how could a father take full control of his daughter's life like that?), the scenery, the beauty, the spectacularly bright tangiability of it all had me floored as I experienced life in the stunning Verona, getting the most fantastic Shakespearean lessons that had me reeling. I absorbed this whole book with its warmth, likeable characters, stunning setting and great story line, as well as armfulls of great romance. Beyond beyond beyond recommended and I will make sure to delve into my kindle and bring you another T A Williams book within the next month. Thanks so much to Rachel at Rachel's Random Resources for the book in return for an honest review. Rating: 5/5

You Will Become One Of The Characters!
In light of everything that is going on in the world at the moment, I had (up until now) now lost my concentration to read much, ducking in and out of books, convinced my mind would never settle down again. However, Verona is one of the Italian cities that is on my bucket list, I’ve always had this romantic notion that I want to visit Juliet’s balcony, and although I probably won’t get to visit it for a little while when I saw this book on Amazon, I thought I would try and escape real life for a little while.I wasn’t disappointed, this book completely and utterly transported me to the beautiful Italian city. The story is one of an unusual friendship between Suzie and Alexandra and initially I thought it wasn’t going to be a pleasant one however they developed an understanding of each other and a true bond between them was formed. The book is written in such a way, that TA Williams takes you there, but not in a travel guide way, he sews you delicately into the story, and rather than reading about the characters, you feel like you are one of the characters. I was having lunch in the villa with James, Tommy and Rafe, and I was certainly sitting next to Suzie in the Mini driving from Verona to the lake!Under the challenging times of lockdown quarantine and isolation, I’ve just had a two day holiday in Verona, and I loved every single minute!!

💕 City of Love
💕 Dreaming of Verona is a literary dream come true.As someone who studied Shakespeare's literature a long many years ago, I found this book well informed, factual and enjoyable. Verona, is indeed the City of Love and I have visited with the same amount of enthusiasm for its culture as Suzie does in this story.I very much enjoyed walking through the city once again with Suzie and Alex, although my visit was not as lavish as their trip was. TA Williams describes the sights so clearly that even if you have never been to Verona before, you will feel like you are there. The trip to the Lake for windsurfing was another highlight of the book. I've often watched this sport with keen interest, but with little knowledge, so it was lovely to have the finer points explained and this definitely added to the enjoyment of the story. The thing I most enjoyed about this story, and with it being set in Romantic Verona, was the wonderful relationship between the girl friends. Seldom does love run smoothly, so it was particularly honest and refreshing to see these young women experiencing the ups and downs of life and discussing their suitors, whilst bonding their friendship together. Both feeling unsure where their life would lead them, they each make a life-changing decision. As with all TA Williams books, and in true Shakespearean style, there is a dog. This always makes me smile and I look forward to seeing what scrapes he/she will get into this time. On this occasion, the said Labrador is very well named and his antics are true to the breed. Such a pleasure to have included his character in this charming book.An absolute pleasure of a read 🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟

Some weakness...
A sweet romance but some inherent weaknesses to the plot and characters makes it less believable, and therefore less enjoyable than other books by the author.I have read quite a few of the author's books. They are, on the whole, very enjoyable; but the are of variable quality and are very repetitive.

Another trip to Italy
Suzie is taken on to act as a companion / chaperone to Lady Alexandra by her father for a trip to Verona, who doesn't trust his daughter. Suzie has always wanted to visit Verona to look at any connections between Shakespeare and Italy and this is ideal as she will also be paid handsomely at the same time.Whilst there they meet with an artist, Michael, and also one of Alex's close friends, James - these are the romantic interests in the story. The author always manages to bring the areas used in the settings of his stories to life for me. I was fortunate enough to visit Verona and Lake Garda, albeit 50 years ago, and this book brought back pleasant memories of the area. I'm not sure that I would be up to windsurfing now, but the story made me wish that I'd tried earlier.Overall a book that I really enjoyed and would have no hesitation to recommend.

Loved reading the book. It carried me back to Verona, where I’ve been a few times. The love story , with the turns and characters kept me reading past midnight. Love the happy ending.

Great scenic descriptions, but the romantic drivel....
I like the book for the descriptions of the landscape around Lake Garda and its surrounding cities, but the romantic drivel is slightly sickening.I thought men were supposed to have more commonsense...Mills and Boon will surely welcome this - male - author with open arms, but for me it’s too much.

Perfect in every way!
What a lovely book. Wonderful characters. Captured the thinking of the British aristocratic society so well. Now I want to hop on a flight (from Australia) and revist northern Italy. Especially Lake Garda and Verona. Thank you TA Williams.

Italian love match
Suzie is being paid to chaperone Alex, a sulky spoilt rich girl to Verona all expenses paid but once she breaks through Alex's barriers she finds a wonderful friend who just needs some guidance. Verona is the city of love apparently and Suzie manages to secure a job and fall in love. Engaging characters full of wit and charm. Thoroughly enjoyable reading
