The One Year Manual: Twelve Steps to Spiritual Enlightenment

Humbling
I've been a seeker of the spiritual path for all my life. It's strange that just recently (December 2016) I started having esoteric knowledge cross my path. Before I had just followed my inner self, and that was difficult to do without much guidance. The Christianity that I had grown up with was too much fire and brimstone for any growth and development. But my grandfather was a very spiritual and wise man, different than any other Christian I have ever met. He operated in love, a true representation of the Christ consciousness. And I remember that.In my own journey, I've read the Christian Bible, the Torah, the Koran, and all the Abrahamic writings. I've read the Vedas, the bhagavad gita, the Tao te Ching, the Shambhala teachings, and the kybalion. I've devoted myself to and devoured all the texts and practices that I've come across. This was a very simple and we'll explained manual for those that feel overwhelmed by it all. I did everything I did because I was pushed to in life and death scenarios, and I don't think anyone should have to be pushed that far to get the enlightenment they seek. This is a good start. If you're reading this, don't give up on yourself. Do the best you can, then improve. You can do it. If I can do it, anyone can.Much love and honor. I believe in you. :)

A very enjoyable read for this interested in this genre and well presented
Very good read for this interested in this genre and would like further information on this topic. The author expresses themselves very well throughout this literature. I would recommend this book to those who like to have a better understanding or those who already have an appreciation of this and would like to immerse themselves more on this topic. Highly recommend this book / author and seller. Shipping and handling arrived new and without defects and well presented packaging.

Great Start
I have only read the first two chapters of this book, but I wanted to put some feedback where there is none. The book is written for you to read one chapter with its specific exercize per month. Isreal Regardie is usually very WORDY as was typical for the time period and being a serious occult writer, BUT this book is not wordy at all. This book is a small quick and from what I can tell excellent place to start actually practicing the occult. For instance the first chapter and exercise is to just sit/lay and work on being sensitive with what your feeling. The second exercize is on breathing. The rest of the book seems to be very practical and from what I can tell I would recommend to any student on spiritual practices. This book is written not to exclude anyone with any particular religious belief but only to start a practical approach to spiritual practice.

Not that I can claim to be stating something new...
...but it's important enough to me to reiterate a point, that I'm willing to repeat words previously stated. If you are a "student" of magic/k, the occult, esoterica, the Western Mystery Tradition or whatever other term you may care to you, and you would like to make the transition into be a PRACTITIONER of the arts, this is the book for you! This book is exactly what the title claims it to be: a manual. Devoid of a lot of theoretical considerations, it moves directly into what to DO over the course of a year to get a firm footing into higher practices. Regardie's "The One Year Manual" was recommended to me by my guide, and I feel just as comfortable making this commendation.

Just the facts, ma'am.
You won't get theory here. You won't even get translations for the words you're going to be saying. You're going to be given 12 individual tasks, to be built on monthly. If you fancy yourself a know-it-all, I suppose there are better books. If you have the humility and focus of will necessary to attain, give it a shot. It's short, it's common language, and it's about getting things done in a direct fashion. This is the book to start with if you, like me, just want the whittled down basics to do while you're studying the theory in "Golden Dawn".

A Basic Introduction to "the Occult", nevertheless a vital one.
If you are interested in occultism, whatever that may mean to you, and have no idea were to start, give this book a shot, it is a year worth of work, check the table of contents, it's less than a hundred pages long but topics it covers are extensive, like:-Body Awareness-Developing the Will-The Middle Pilar Ritual-Unity - All Is God.As the cover says, it's a year worth of work (actually, I'd guess it's much more) so don't be disheartened by it's size, it's more how you use it!.

Nothing new, but well put together
The One Year Manual: Twelve Steps to Spiritual Enlightenment contains a nice series of steps to prepare one's self for being more in-touch with their higher consciousness and be more in-tune with life itself. While none of the content is ground-breaking/new, it still is a well put together collection of exercises.

A great beginners guide and a primer for greater things
As I been on the path for the longest time, I bought this book out of curiosity more than anything else. I doubt that anyone would achieve enlightment as the title suggests however, if the student is keen and faithfully follows the procedures set forth they will undoubtable attain something valuable for themselves in 12 to 36 months. As a primer for the spiritual path whether it be contemplative prayer, hermetics, theurgy or as your liking this booklet will serve the novice well.

A rare and precious gem
I have worked with Dr. Regardie' s books, amongst others, for over 25 years. This title really shocked and surprised me. Stripped of the pompous language and nonsense that so much of the Western Mystery Tradition of the turn of the last century contained. Simple, short, easy....and incredibly effective.Having run through the 12 basic exercises, I have pretty much spent the last year using one meditation from this book on a regular basis. It has changed my life and will continue to.Whatever tradition, or non, you come from this book is guaranteed to work and help.In years of trawling book shops I had never seen this title. Written when the Doctor was older in years it feels like the essence and summary of a life time in the Western Mystery Tradition.I will be recommending this title to anyone who asks.Just beginning.Again.And again.....

I cannot recommend it enough
This is my 3rd copy of this book over the years, it contains everything one needs to get on a practical path of esotericism.Regardie keeps theory down to a minimum to ensure one focuses more on the exercises.I cannot recommend it enough, brilliant little book!
